heck , they just buried him - didn't waste a moment - altho' MR with his $25 mil showed earlier for the
party. BK saying 'I can't help being paid so much' - what a crock. Were Grove around he'd put these two in their places but he is gone - and no doubt horrified and ashamed as to what mgmt has done to his proud company. Cutting deserving engineers upon whose backs' BK and co. have ridden to riches. Shame is too strong a word.
Lets be frank after Grove made the seminal decision to dump memory and make the painful transition to x86 the golden goose laid a bazzillion dollars that Forrest Gump could have been CEO and intel wouldn't have missed a beat.
If you look back at what CRB did with his billions spent and lost during the dot com, the x86 retrenchment that PSO did, and the silly side bets on 5G, IoT, and memory that BK is doing none are going to change the larger dynamics nor directions of the company.
The strategic direction that is needed is so obvious but the internal Gumps can only only seem to run faster run faster and beat their Forrest's to do that. The company needs an external visonary to really overhaul the cultural and direction. Sadly BK his recent external hires aren't moving the company in the right direction. They had a chance when they were selecting BK to do something amazing, but they went the safe route, but the company is in deep crisis and in need of something radical. Technology moves fast and intel is being left in the dust.
The whole company is going down the tubes, it doesn't look like it as the outside can't see the real state of the products in flight on x86, servers, the real status of the silicon technology, nor any glimpse of whole broken the overall infrastructure is compared to the nasty and competitive outside worlds. The rest of the worlds has been scrambling for scraps and now they have seized it and running with it, while Intel has its head up its collective x86 a$$ and full of delusions. Those that are understand and can see inside, they know but deep down the hope that intel can squeeze out another one, but the reality is the light at the end of the tunnel is on glimmer but a train!
They need a Grove like inflection point and transformation, it will happen soon in late 2017 or 2018 as the first 10nm are supposed to come, but then what will happen will be transformational!

@1jjr - I haven't signed up for the retiree website yet - only used it as a portal to various benefits. That said, of the 200 emails I received at Intel every day, maybe 20 were actionable or useful. Email creep was pretty bad and many did not know how to effectively communicate.

(I'm not being mean here, but) you're probably like all the people I dealt with at Intel who NEVER read their emails, then wondered why they were left out of this and that or always said things like.... "I didn't know that" when they'd have known it if they read the ding dong email!! I used to think... what do I have to do?!?!? Read it out loud for them??!? LOL
I didn't hear much about the Grove Memorial - even the Retiree site didn't post anything. Can anyone who was actually there give a brief rundown/highlight?

Re: CRB - he has spoken up, behind the scenes I'm sure, and publicly as he is capable. Remember the column in the NYT when he completely dissed Bk for dropping the STS sponsorship? And even at Andy Grove's public memorial, he slid in a subtle dig at Andy Bryant and the board ("Intel has been an industry leader for 40 years, don't screw it up Andy [Bryant]."). But Craig wouldn't stage a coup, which is what a loud public statement would be. Plus, honestly, he's earned his retirement.

Being sure doesn't mean they are correct - in fact they are headed right into the wall. How about doing right about their ex-employees whose pain and suffering they are directly responsible for ? Kings and queens - hmm..
I am certain BK and Murthy at very sure of themselves, their strategy and worth their crazy salary and options but the reality of the matter is they are taking the company in the wrong direction. Sadly they are hoping and praying the exponential continues but sadly Moore's Law died long ago, 14nm needed serious Viagra but only half hard and 10nm and all the products are totally limp and will be DOA. Anyone who thinks otherwise should think thru why for the first time intel has two more designs on 14nm. NEVER has Intel slipped a process so much and delayed products so long. What is even more sad is all the ARMy will get significant scaling of power cost and performance as they move from 16 to 10 and 7nm.
The competitors ARMy has three more nodes and 6 more design cycles while Intel's answers with more 14nm. 10nm will be lucky if it appears in 2018 at all

Where is CRB? Guess that this Andy Grove groomed, former Intel CEO doesn't have the cajones or enough power to speak out against the Board or BK. Then again, maybe he seemed to be in favor of Globalism during his tenure as CEO in late 90's early through mid 2000s. He heavily pushed for expansion of operations into 2nd and 3rd world countries during his tenure, while ignoring the impact to workers in the USA and Europe. He also was the poster-child sponsor of "Common Core" in Arizona but that thankfully went was thwarted by the election of an anti-"common Core" Superintendent of Education in last election.
