Thread regarding Intel Corp. layoffs

Yahoo - sound familiar?

"But the biggest story today is how Yahoo squandered its massive head start and let each wave of new technology in search, social, and mobile pass it by. Yahoo remains largely the same company it was a decade ago — a portal that hundreds of millions of users rely on for everything from news and weather to key functions like email and games like fantasy football. As the attention of the world shifted to smartphone apps, Yahoo’s last advantage in the desktop world began to fade."

Short term decisions that killed any long term prospect. The same is happening at Intel, just too many wrong decisions...

1998 : Yahoo refuses to buy Google for $1 Million

2002 : Yahoo realizes its mistake and tries to buy google for $3 Billion, which Google says "Give us $5 Billion", Yahoo says no.

2008 : Yahoo refused to be sold to Microsoft for $40 Billion

2016 : Yahoo sold for $4.6 Billion

Not that she had much to work with when she joined Yahoo, but I don't feel history will treat Marissa Mayer very well. From her burn-it-to-the-ground treatment of company culture when she joined to her golden parachute, it doesn't look good. Of course, history depends on who writes it...

Microsoft offered 45 Billion several years ago, looks like the same people running yahoo are running Intel.
