Very noble sentiments.

However, if you think for one second that corporate give a $**t beyond headcount and the mighty dollar, you are very, very, mistaken. This is a global business not a mom and pop factory. There is no sense being applied to these cuts because they are headless chickens with no plan, no clue what to do, simply desperation - hanging on to the gravy train until the 'saviour' arrives . That's why they are cutting 20% everywhere even if it means you have a facility with no workers in it, just managers and admin! Cut, cut, do nothing, spend nothing, common people can be replaced if needed later.

So much for the 'grow ten fold in ten years' plan! LoL!

Look as good as possible so that our saviour -GE- steps in and makes things better. Not long now.....

NOV is an excellent company with some great people but the key is to get the RIGHT PEOPLE in the RIGHT PLACES and we could really do good things. Right now getting things lined out is Critical.

Our Company's Future is at stake. Would like to see NOV use this time make things better.

It is very hard to make sound business decisions when the "mechanics" of it are not understood. This is especially true with Purchasing of Components. Have been watching this for a while and makes it hard to have a positive attitude but while our people do the best they can and have the very best intentions - simply very hard to make good business decisions if comprehension of the manufacturing processes and capabilities required are not fully understood and without understanding how things are made and how shops function in general. This is especially true right now. There is not 1 shop we deal with down less than 20%, most are down over 50% and not just in people - also skills and capabilities. Without understanding this and being able to "read" the shops - just relying on data which past data simply will not help much right now. Have almost everything I have invested in our Team - Have a vested interest here in our success. Would certainly like to help our company more. Right now while we have the time is the best time to fix this. We could improve our Quality and Delivery by getting the right things to the right places and now is the time to sort this out but we simple do not have the right people in the right places at this time to get it done and the folks in charge while very good Managers -- do not have this technical background to make it happen - this support is Critical right now.

Hope one day soon to have an opportunity for myself or another person with this background to help our Team make things better and build the Future - for NOV.

We could do great things to help build NOV for the future.

WE CAN DO IT WORKING TOGETHER !

Diamond department all but run into the ground by short sighted bosses...

Cheap Chinese steel being used in Machine shop...

Sub standard Chinese cutters bought instead of manufacturing ourselves...

No pay rise...

No bonus...

Which has led to a number of skilled & experienced shop floor staff leaving over the last 18 months...

These people cannot be replaced...

The Stonehouse plant is bleeding to death...a real shame for staff that used to care about a job well done & their colleagues.

To the person who is sharing what they were told in confidence, you are not owning that message just gossiping shame on you. If I knew who you were I would make sure I owned the message and would let everyone know not to confide in you.

Facts are wrong regarding Stonehouse. Final consultations took place this week. Plenty of work in the area, people found jobs and will come back if the opportunity arises. #greatcompany, greatpeople

Stonehouse is not closing it is responding to the market and unfortunately there is a downturn. They are making drill bits and will be busy. This site has a loyal skilled workforce who will get though the bad times as well as the good times. They have good Leaders and even better employees who care about their work. Please stop using this forum to spread negativity, in a downturn we need to work hard, use lean principles and stick together.
