Attorney references for Cisco layoff issues

Any references for good attorneys that deal well, or known to have current/past experience with Cisco related layoff issues, negotiations in San Jose HQ? This info could help people here.

From bradreese's posts there was mention of one: http://garaylaw.com/

Any more pointers to more?

So many replies, but other than the original poster, not a single reference to an attorney?

If you believe that you may have been unlawfully discriminated against it is worth consulting an employment attorney. They can help you understand whether you have a valid case and what your options are. You can find these folks by searching on the internet (not just looking for advertising but see what you can find about in the way of reports on active discrimination cases) but probably the best method is word of mouth.

You are right. Totally agree with what you said. Best of luck to everyone! Try to not let this moment in time define you. I'm in the same boat. Laid off but I try to remember this is just a moment in time.

Lot of people might have special circumstances. Maybe disability, personal health events, Family Medical Leave , Leave of Absence etc. Age issues are one thing, most commonly known. It might be useful for them to have a good attorney in the loop just to make sure the best terms are obtained so good attorney reference list is handy.

Otherwise, for average cases the normal Cisco severance terms are probably good.

I was laid off this go around after 11 years. I'm happy to leave and start something new.

Here is what I will say. The separation that Cisco offers is very very fair. Unless you have an extenuating circumstance, your time and energy is better spent on finding a new gig that motivates you and makes you want to get out of bed in the morning and make things happen!!!

Best of luck to everyone!!

I wish you could edit the posts after they're published! I didn't mean to say attorney general. I just meant attorney.

I tried to contact them months ago , and their mailbox was full or the number wasn't working or something like that (it's been months so I can't remember). I wonder if he had so many cases he was overloaded or if he was no longer practicing (which i know sounds weird). very strange. Good luck someone.

IMHO, I think the only thing that would serve you well by using an attorney general to have them review the agreement. I do t think litigation is the answer. It would take years and a lot of stress to go through something like that. But if you do it, I hope you win!
