Thread regarding Intel Corp. layoffs

My Intel management said there are no more layoffs

We met the ACT targets. Hiring freeze, but no more cuts. I am in Folsom.

I would agree . FM is not a first product site, The development capability is sub-par. Management capability is and always has been sub-par. This site is not feasible long term.

You have to add "that we currently know about."

Ask next year, during the layoffs, why they told you this year that there were no more layoffs. The reply will be, "Well, we didn't know about it then."

You guys still have your shuttle? When they said that was going away, it was the death knell. They did that to Dupont before the end too.

The managers were not even aware of the way they were being corralled to set people up for the last two layoffs with moving performance targets. As a VSP I asked, "can you assure me ACT is done?" and they said no. So I left. I don't think any guarantee is possible. Start looking for another job now. It is also a problem if you are isolated in FM. And I think anything to do with VPG is at risk. And Nonvolatile Memory too.

Serious question- what does Folsom actually do?

If the entire site disappeared would anyone notice?

I thought ACT was going through like mid-2017.

My manager said that the ACT was 90% complete. This was in his BUM.

This manager is lying. He is just trying to ensure he is not cited for restarting a rumor. Of course, he knows there will be layoffs, but his peers will probably demand he gets laid-off if he's the one that starts the rumor mill.

@rpi

PCs have declined for more than 20 straight quarters. Peak PC was in 2011.

Let that sink in.

There's some serious financial Houdini work going on to hide the vast scope of tbthe decline. Look at the balance sheet leverage for a clue.

LOl @ clueless Intel managers that don't see the broad industry wide trends. Of course there will be more layoffs. Everyone except Intel management can see that. The core business is very sick and the healthy business is at grave risk from the barbarians at the gate.

PC sales have declined for 7 straight quarters and will continue to drop. You think ACT cut to HC needs assuming flat sales or another 10% drop which is more than likely. Management forecasted server revenue and profit and missed last quarter so they are in the hole already.

IoT, memory, Modems are cut throat business and Intel is still at least 30k to heavy to play I business where chips sell for ten bucks instead of 150!

Sorry more layoffs are all but certain especially with the poor situation in 14 and disaster in 10nm

Anybody in management who says no more layoffs has no clue and shouldn't be in management making promises they can't keep.

Do they know the next couple years PC and server sales before it happens. Or the macro economics that might drive them in US or China? They know the breakthrus required to get 10nm working?

Know how foundry completely change 180 degrees and make Intel process desirable to people so real business actually materializes?

Management didn't know the last ACT, so why would you expect them to know future ACT? I hear the opposite. More ACT to come via ISP via VSP offers that were not taken. Mark it here!!

Wait for Q3 and Q4 and Q1 sales to come in and more 10nm slips, then big cuts!

Where you are physically doesn't really matter with a site as large as FM. It's where in the company you are (which org).
