Thread regarding Sears layoffs

Do the people at Hoffman and the DM's really believe what they tell us?

I was just wondering if the people at corporate really believe the things they tell us or are they just trying to keep their jobs. Day after day I see on Pebble and have conference calls where I hear the people in charge telling us how we are going to be the worlds greatest integrated retailer, how we are one of the top appliance service companies, how we are turning it around as a company, how there are all these great things being done and will be coming to a store near you soon, how the next big idea will be the one to make us millions, yada, yada, yada. Are they for real and so out of touch with the reality at the store level that they really believe all the things they are saying

Some stores are very good in their metrics. Sure the yellowed floor tiles are clean and the 25 year old carpets in the store have no stains making them appear clean. So the store is the pinnacle of cleanliness.

Yeah, I was wondering the same thing. I get that they need to do their job but some of the post and emails make it seem like they have no idea how bad it is at store level. Most of the post are very much like the company is doing great and is killing the profits and that all employees are happy and well paid.

I can see doing your job but it seems like they are posting B.S. like it will make a difference and that some how some way someone may believe it. One post I noticed was someone posting an article on the top things people look for in a retailer and then the poster went into how SHC was at the top in all catogories. The list included customer service, clothes, internet sales, store atmosphere, store cleanliness etc. As far as I have heard, read and experienced we are last in all these metrics. So I fully understand the question and concern. If you don't believe it then why go out of your way to post something?. Just don't post anything.

its human nature- it would take a brave management team to tell the truth that everything is s--t and the company wont survive for too much longer-if they did that you'd all give up, resign and it would collapse tomorrow- they need to keep the pretense up for a few months longer- every company thats gone bankrupt before up until the day they filed was saying the same thing.

They will blow smoke up anyone's a-- who will listen. The best that management can do, is to rearrange the deck chairs on a sinking ship.
