All the big guys GR13 and above got network and enough money so when the Titanic goes down they got no worries.
Anyone under that unless they have been very disciplined with savings, have a second career all lined up, or better yet really have very unique skills different and more valuable than all their peers when they are all screaming for a job in the next few rounds of cuts will be SOL.
Let's be honest, x86 continues to fall. The ARM servers will get huge boost with 10 and 7nm on TSMC silicon now that they have Softbank bankrolling their push into high end, software as well as additional push into IoT.
IoT, modems, 5G, memory are all commodity where Intel has little advantage, not cost, not scale, not design/product history, NOTHING. For people's reminder Intel failed over three generations trying to break into tablet and mobile, grade F. The modem is a external design run at TSMC. To date NO successful nor competitive silicon has come out of Intel that benchmarks well for PPAC where there is real competition. Frankly Intel has never done well over the last 30 years when there was competition, they have always fled to the corner, and they got lucky with x86.
Good times are over as TSMC and Samsung are nearly matched for process technology, have better and bigger factories, have huge volume to amortize their R&D. INtel has servers but that was like DEC having Alpha worktstations or IBM having POWER and mainframe silicon to feed them, and they couldn't afford it.
Game over by 7nm for Intel, there is more to a roadmap than tightest gate pitch, LOL
