NorCal Metro Marketing Lead Restructure again

NorCal Metro Marketing Lead Restructure again - down from 17 to 10 and then reposted for 3. Also-team consolidation waiting until after the holidays- of course! Oh yes- and attrition. Has anyone heard what will happen to the TL's that don't get the job?

The NorCal Metro Marketing Leads did get severance and they were told at the beginning of the year. They were given around 6 months to decide what to do.

"I keep seeing a theme..people are being told the position is going away in 8 months with no severance. I think it's safe to say 8 months is some sort of window legally to not pay severance under the summary of benefits. "

This is absolutely incorrect. They are giving the notice of 8 months (depending on your sales actually it's about 17 months, look at the link that Ken and David sent out on Friday regarding restructure etc. Beginning of Q2 2018 is the date for all stores up to 650k officially going combo if they haven't already).

They are hoping that anyone in an affected position will find a new placement in the company by then, or leave (opportunistic attrition is what they're calling it). In that scenario a severance would not be offered. However, if you work up until the official last day of your position (likely mid-January 2018) and don't opt to apply for a combo team TL position/lose in an interview battle, according to the GIG severance will be possible.

Read the GIG regarding severance, print it out and save it just in case they change their tune and you need evidence. WFM would put themselves in a position of battling lawsuits if they pulled that rug out now after having already offered it to people who's positions were eliminated in the past.

I keep seeing a theme..people are being told the position is going away in 8 months with no severance. I think it's safe to say 8 months is some sort of window legally to not pay severance under the summary of benefits. In about 5 years our model will be stable. If you want to know what that looks like chat up your cashier at target or Walmart, they will spill everything. If everything they say sells you on staying... Then stay. If your not interested in working for Walmart or target start looking now and you will have time to find something with the same or better benefits.. Regional team members have also been given timelines for the changes. There are going to be less mid level managers and more pt employees, time to copse which one if you are staying.

They can just leave....There are way better opportunities out there...Things will not turn around this company is looking for its identity & it doesn't seem to find it anywhere...it is just time to get the F.. out of there....

How many "Associate Team Leader Positions" do you really think will materialize? I really feel for you guys who think sticking around and giving up your soul to the corporate machine will get you somewhere. They stopped caring about you a long time ago. Wake up and smell the Whole Trade Coffee.

My Co worker did the Retail Specialist position that was created from the last restructure and they told her the position goes away in April and apply for something else, but no severance because 'she has plenty of time to find something else'. It's not really a fair option to suggest going for something else or just quit, but that's that way it's going. I can't speak for other regions, but still I highly recommend against 'waiting for severance'.

IF...there's any positions to step down too.... either way..good people will either lose their jobs, be forced to look elsewhere in the company (majority of the positions available are only PT), OR leave the company all together. Sad direction...but I truly believe for the ones who stick it out that eventually things may turn around. It's all about how we accept and embrace this change.

Well, my guess is that they could apply for any open job that they're qualified for, or else they will be out of a job.
