I was very happy being an hourly office worker. At times, there was OT and that was nice, but I also liked having a life, so OT wasn't a big priority. The 3 days of sick time didn't bother me 'cause I am a very healthy person, but when I heard that salary people have unlimited sick time, I couldn't believe it! Some people took advantage of that, trust me! Call in sick for 2 days and then on the 3rd day when a doctor's note would be required, of course they showed up. Anyway, I liked it much better when I worked for a company that offered a bank of PTO days to everyone to be used for vacation, sick time, taking care of the kids time, whatever. I think that is a much more fair system as there are always going to be entitled jerks who will take advantage of "unlimited sick time". Just brings down the morale of those who are mentally / physically healthy and honest people.
Yeah, not getting a bonus was the hard part, but at the time I was OK with it since I don't like salary jobs and being forced to work 50 hour weeks at times. At least I always knew that all of my time was accounted for with $$$$. Basically, I just was happy to have a good job and health insurance.
