What are the rules for severance in Canada – I heard that IBM Edmonton had an RA this week, I know Toronto was hit for sure (actually today) – I know that it used to be 2 weeks per year of service but that likely changed. I heard that they went to 1 week per year of service but I also heard that they went 30 days fixed for all regardless of tenure with IBM. Please chime in.

Hope they got rid of the RUDE people in marketing/communications/events in Markham.
Deadwood who had jobs for life, working at home to raise their kids. What a cushy country club life they have...doing nothing! May you get what you give out! IBM Ugly B--ches.
The tax percentage is close to 45%. I opted to place the bleeding amount in a retirement fund with my financial institution... Save it for a rainy day post retirement.. In essence the full amount is retained (tax shelter).
How is it taxed
50% taken here in the USA
It will vary per province but overall consensus (conversations with fellow fired employees in Ontario) , sum is one week per year of service but may be low balled s)seek laywer consulation..
regardless the amount is measly and dont bank on anything more.. For those with less tenure and only 1 month sev, i would focus on next opportunities and if it comes along dont wait the 90 days and that sh--ty cheque
