Thread regarding Cisco Systems Inc. layoffs

I'm out....Resigned !

Had enough of the BS....plenty of really good opportunities out there.

I was trying to get my self on the list of LR's , even hinted to my manager that i want to be let go but that didn't work.

Decided not to wait for someone to make the decision for me and jumped ship.

I was able to get a new job with a better position and a better package altogether.

YOLO People ! There is a big world full of amazing opportunities out there, go and own your destiny, do something that matters, something that makes you happy.

All I see is miserable people around me @ Sysko, its not worth it.

Many resigned on the bonus day yesterday as someone predicted in this forum after the recent layoff was announced.

i was let go this round and rehired to the same org (go figure why). I have 2 offers , one from another big corporate and another from a small local company. The big corp matches my current benefits but they are as bad as Cisco wrt to layoffs. The local company does not offer stock options nor match Cisco's 401k matching / Health benefits and the base salary is lower than Cisco. I am thinking quiting for the smaller company even with the pay cut as the environment seems to be better than Cisco's. I wish i did not come back and kept the severance.

I smelled some $hit around back in June/July, I did the same. This was good choice because in August/September the LR was officially announced, so the job market could be flooded in the area I live... And on Monday I'll start a new job.

Jobs may be plentiful in the valley area, but other places in the US are not so fortunate and have high competition for few jobs. Just sprinkling some reality into the conversation.

Congrats to you both! I'm anticipating multiple offers in the next week or two, so I should be right behind you. Counting the hours!

Did the something myself yesterday....@ 55% more money than what I was making at Cisco. Manager was trying to give a counter offer, told not to waste his time. Get some new monkeys to do you dirty work.

Look if you got skills, you should look outside. Never come back to Cisco as valley has ~1500 companies. If you are not making money at Cisco you are a fool. Because all execs are making $1M+. They all will stay at Cisco for 2-3 yrs. Make sure if stay back at Cisco, you make money. Else you and your family are screwed long term.
