Thread regarding Sears layoffs

Additional layoffs at corporate yesterday

There were additional layoffs at corporate yesterday. Not sure of the total number... several more people from my team (but not as many as back In February). I do know the severance package was not as good as for the layoffs back in February. Not sure how many of these I've managed to survive, but going to work is like Russian roulette.

I know most of you in the stores feel helpless and get frustrated with "corporate," but us regular employees in Hoffman feel the same way.

Can someone layoff 0955? And I don't mean that in the "let's be nice to it" type of way.

When my 38yr job was eliminated in March I received 8 weeks severance but I had heard that people in corporate had received 20 weeks severance. It used to be you received a week for every year with a max of 20 even for us at store level.

I believe severance packages between field and corporate employees do differ. At corporate it tends to be a week for every year at the company with a minimum amount. Back for the February layoff it was a 10 week minimum. This past week I was told a 6 week minimum.

As far as I know, this last week IT and Inventory departments were once again affected.

Which, btw, is my guess as to why the inventory you are receiving at the stores has been so messed up... they have let go so many from Inventory time and time again in an effort for getting more things automated. But the "new" system they are trying to get going to run the automated processes basically doesn't work right... and it has been a work in process for years now, the project that never ends...

There may have been more departments involved in this last week's layoffs, but I wouldn't know. There was no email the day after this time around, as there was back in February, and I was told they were trying to keep it "hush hush" as much as possible this go around.

If you are a FT employee with 18 years, you will get 8 weeks of severance. That is the top out.

Do you know what is the severance package for an employee with 18 years and counting. Full-time associate for 18 years. The lease on my store will end Feb 2018. We are a negative EBDITA Store. Any answers will be great. Thank You, and God Bless.
