Thread regarding Cisco Systems Inc. layoffs

There are still a lot of lazy, low performers around

Lots of good, hard working and high performers that are the crucial underpinning to the Cisco engine are impacted by the last LR. There are still a lot of lazy, low performers around. They played the political game as well as the kiss up game to their managers to get promotions or survive these LRs. They provide no real values to the company except for muddying the culture with politics. Cisco Culture are changing for the worse.

Managers are clueless by eating up these political gestures from their subordinates. Look in the directory for managers that have no reports or people that you know that provide no values, but are still in position. LR should have been more precise and weed these folks out to strengthen the company and bring the culture back.

Totally agree with @JMC0tLh-yek. I was an extremely high performer that burns the midnight candles at both ends to drive and make an impact at Cisco. After seeing this bad LR, how imprecise this LR has been and see hardworking colleague being impacted, I am taking a good portion of what could have been Cisco's time to ensure that I will not on the next LR list. Sad to see that instead of just focusing on Cisco, I have to be distracted with these things and reduce my productivity. Company's culture should be to eliminate politics and help us do our jobs for the company instead of worrying about these distractions.

Cisco is a declining business. It's revenue will not grow again. Remember double digit growth, how about -2% growth in FY16? For every 1% decline in network revenue, Cisco has to grow at a huge rate in other tech just to make up the difference. The only way to keep the shareholders happy now, which don't forget is who the leadership really work for, is to increase dividend payments. To do this they need to continually cut costs and hope that one of their other technologies picks up to cover the hole networks is leaving. But which one? Security won't be as big as they are hoping as you'd have to be a moron to buy all your security needs from one company and at that a company who never created the tech, just acquired it. Everything else is declining too. The move to software is a sham, as not a single leader has come from a software background and you would think if they were serious, that would be a must.

Unfortunately no one in Cisco is used to working for a company with declining revenues, but this year is the start of what's to come. If you are desperate to stay, start a-- kissing now, however there are plenty of fast growing, great tech companies out there to work for, if your any good.

The "corporate culture" ship has sailed and the company you are looking for is never coming back. The yearly LR's have created the atmosphere you describe and it is now entrenched. What was time spent on productivity, collaboration and teamwork has been replaced with people looking over their shoulder, kissing azz and hoping the axe doesn't fall on them.
