Thread regarding Cisco Systems Inc. layoffs

How is Cisco in the Data Science space?

Most tech companies have an analytics strategy with data science. How is Cisco in this field? Are they using advance techniques to gather business intelligence? Are they competing with the Googles of the world?

a 'data' sample: They had partnered with a small startup called Emcien to resell its products under the Cisco label. Emcien appears to have interesting machine learning technology, at least from looking at their web page. But I heard that Biri laid off most of the people working with that vendor, don't know if Cisco also severed the relationship with the vendor. I thought people with data science skills were hard to find and keep. Would join a bipolar organization like that? My conclusion is that Cisco management doesn't understand data science unless it buys it in a bottle with a label in big letters reading: Sh-- or, alternatively, SHINOLA. Chances still are that they'll drink from the wrong bottle.
