Big Screen TVs in Deer Valley Cafeteria?

I happened to be visiting the Deer Valley location for the first time this week. Interesting setup they have there with the multiple big screens on all 4 walls of the cafeteria. I found it to be quite strange – all screens playing CNN peddling a bunch salacious (anti-Trump) political stuff about the elections. Rows of assembly workers in blue ESD smocks staring up at the screens; surreal experience, almost Orwellian – gave me a bit of an uneasy feeling.

Is this typical of other Honeywell locations – mandatory 2 minutes of hate for all employees during lunch?

Have you ever heard of a Smart phone ? It is a really handy device that not only allows you to send and receive phone calls, check your email and surf the internet, but did you know you can also download apps that allow you to change the channel to anything your heart desires. Good Luck.

Thought you said real news - not more propaganda from Project Veritas.

Real news covers what's going on in the big bad world, not just your tiny narrow viewpoint.

Real news covers the war against ISIS - that’s important because one day your son or daughter might have to go out there and fight them

Real news covers OPEC's recent decision to cut back production - that drives up the cost of goods you use.

Real news covers the lack of affordable health care in this country that's driving more and more people in bankruptcy - you might be next.

Real news covers the REAL issues facing people today.

TedTurner and the rest of the CNN zombies out there...IF you can display 15 minutes of courage, watch this news investigation in its entirety from the REAL news media (and no, it's NOT from FOX). I don't think you will see this on your favorite channel while having lunch in the Honeywell cafeteria. Wake up!!

"Fox is more fair and balanced than CNN"

I almost pi$$ed myself when I read that !!!

The only decent thing on Fox who is ANYWHERE near "fair and balanced" is Shep and it sounds like he will be playing a bigger role moving forward.

Of course he will have to grow his hair and bleach it blonde to be taken "seriously"

It’s interesting to see than in this time of uncertainty within Aerospace, with furloughs and RIF’s every few months – the main topic of discussion is what’s on the TV where you eat !!

About a year ago, I asked the people in the Cafeteria why they changed the channel on the TV's from Fox News to CNN. They said that the mandate came from Corporate. Phoenix Engines.

OH PLEASE! CNN, CNBC is far left and yes FOX News is right of center so the truth is somewhere in teh middle. I do think Fox is more fair and balanced than CNN. Even NBC and others are railing against Trump and not saying much about Hillary. News should be just that news.

Oh well, we digress. This site isn't rating news forums or media. All of us will listen to whom we agree and blast all others. I think it's sad that news organizations think they need to present the news how they want it portrayed. I for one think it's refreshing to walk into a lobby and see FOX News.

Not the slightest bit surprising to me that Honeywell management feels obligated to gaslight their employees on daily basis with this kind of toxic political propaganda. Seems to be company-wide so definitely designed – and offensive at that.

Sure would be nice if they played something a little less divisive and more uplifting and/or inspirational. For example, I like the idea of creating a more serene cafeteria experience – there are some absolutely beautiful UHD musical documentary movies on Netflix covering oceans, deserts, flowers, waterfalls etc.

Those would fit the bill perfectly I think – very relaxing, calming and great for everyone’s stress levels, mental health and overall well being.

Hey TedTurner - just keep your bong hose close to your mouth and everything will be alright. "...One o the best out there" what a f'n joke. I have some advice - wake up and deprogram yourself from the Leftist Kool-Aid you asre under - there's a big, bad world out there which is going to hell fast, mainly due to all the droids who tune into CNN like they are zombies!

Sorry but Cable News Network is one of the better one's out there, if you want to be talked down to and told what you should believe ... go watch something else.

Don't see any Fox on any televisions at airports, there's a reason for that.

You do know you have free will, you don't have to watch the tv regardless of the station it's tuned to.

There is a old strange thing called conversation, it's when people used to talk to each other rather than watching tv or glued to a smart phone.

Funny - same at the Engines site all day long. As bad as the education indoctrination that are children are getting. Some of us requested to change the channel a few years ago and a innocent caf worker switched it in agreement. Few days later that worker was told under no uncertain terms were they to take it off CNN again. Gastpo tactics and lately I can not even run fast enough to get away from the propaganda that is being piped in all day long.

I think that they used to show Fox until someone remarked that they'd rather see a real news program.

I've been at Honeywell Aerospace for almost 10 years, having worked my way to the position of Senior Manager. Have been through 3 furloughs in 9 months, with another one apparently looming in December.

In 2016, Aerospace required that management implement and drive an initiative to increase Productivity by 20% this year. I, along with many other mid-level managers, have been successfully flowing this to our teams with excellent results, and have saved Honeywell many, many thousands of dollars in increased productivity and reduced waste.

So, how have we, and our team of engineers, inspectors, technicians and supervisors, been recognized for saving Honeywell so much money?

  • Zero merit increase this year

  • Talk of zero merit increase next year

  • Talk of 3-10% salary reduction next year

  • Three confirmed furloughs this year (~ 6% loss in salary)

  • A fourth furlough likely, which would then be 8% loss in salary. This is 3-4 house payments for most people).

  • For those that are Band 4, the incentive plan has been reduced by 5%.

Why am I sharing? Just to vent, I suppose. Everyone has their own triggers in life, or to put it another way, the straws in life that will break the camel's back.

For me, the trigger is that fourth furlough.

If another one happens in December, I have told myself that I will accept the job offer that I have pending with a major competitor. I will be gone. And I suspect that many others like me, in management, will follow.

I certainly hope that some of the big boys on Mahogany Row are reading this.
