Breaks are covered basd on state laws, not federal. Each state is different and some do not have provisions for breaks to be given at all. My state is one that legally I do not have to be given a break. Per gig I get 15 minutes for every 4 hours worked, most shifts are not 8 hours so most breaks are 15 minutes per shift, although I think leadership is aware you can't get through the lines at th registers in 15 minutes during a rush and allow it to stretched beyond 15. Our breaks in my area are paid as long as you are in store.

So no break at all for a 5 hour shift? Why is this one of the best companies to work for again?

What is the allotted amount of hours?

If you work the allotted amount of hrs for a 30 minutes break, take one. Ask someone to cover you, even if it has to be shifty. They can't deny you. If it doesn't get resolved, document it. If anyone has anything to say about you not being on the floor to service customers you already have proof of you trying to get it resolved. But don't work yourself to death. They could care less.
