Thread regarding Chevron Corp. layoffs

What are some better companies than CVX?

Looking to jump this sinking ship. Anyone know of other companies with similar pay and benefits?

I just landed a job at BOEM after getting shafted from CVX. I am going to lay low for a few months. After that I intend to "Release The Kraken" on them dumb--ses. I will be "that legendary a--hole from BOE". Let the story begin.....one INC at a time.

Government Jobs are like that. You pretty much sit on your A$$ and blow tax-payers money. And you get rewarded with cushy benefits and pension. Vote for the Mrs. if you want that to continue and if you don't mind supporting the legalized theft and wasting of your earnings.

Yes that's right. If you get most government jobs you get to have a sweet cushy lazy do nothing sweet gig. I know a couple of Laid off Engineers who were hired by BSEE. They do nothing all day except a little paperwork. Paid by your tax dollars to do nothing. Good high paying Eng. Salaries. Welcome to Hillary's world. When she creates jobs, that's what she means. She is a born & bred raised politician paid by tax dollars. That's her life blood. That's part of the economy according to her. On fact that's the entire economy in her world, having no business experience. We're not even going into her criminal activities. That doesn't need to be mentioned. Her version of the world incudes rapidly expanding the types who get paid and do nothing while you get paid to produce a product. You may think Chevroids who play candy crush all day do nothing. Even the most inefficient useless Chevroid doing some part time menial task in the middle of his/her daily activities contributes 10X as much to industry, producing a product and the economy than a parasitic tax-dollar svckling government worker. Hillary promises to grow this effort under the guise of "creating jobs" - LOL. You really need to understand liberal big government and the democrat machine. It's frightening. And they have better pay, pension and benefits than you also!

You are right, 2phf. After being laid off at Chevron a few months ago, I was hired by the Louisiana Dept of Environmental Quality. I can't wait until Chevron has its next audit or major incident. Some people at Chevron may remember my face, but won't get any help from me. I'm a tough sob.

I love it when someone feels that "Someone else but them" loses if Shillarity gets elected. Well, I have some disappointing news for you. YOU LOSE TOO!!!!!

On another point, look in the mirror the next time you post "your not going to win" or "your a moron".

Retake high school English if you don't understand.

Get a cushy federal government job. Lots of holidays, good pay, good pension, good insurance, regular pay grade raises, yearly COLA adjustments, no layoffs. Where do I sign up?

From reading that post below it sounds like the Bu*t-hurt guy/gal has more experience than many of you and is giving more sound advice than not. I think that a lot of you are simply jealous of his of her experience and acquired wisdom. I agree with the comment totally, they are just claiming that they have been on both sides and grass is rarely greener on the other side. All you have to do is quit and go see. What's stopping you? Oh, you're afraid to lose the only decent job you ever had and most likely ever will have? Well - then take your own advice. If it's not quitting at this paticular time in history, then I can assure you, it's good advice.

-1lae and -1xis , You seem as though you are quite obsessed with the so-called "butt-hurt guy" and it touches a raw nerve. I suspect that you are one of the pieces of "Dead-Wood" that he speaks of and you are embarrassed that you are an example of the stereotypical "butt-hurt loser" that they talk about and feel offended personally. Otherwise, what difference would it make to you, it is just a laid-off person, or Houston area retard still at work most likely trying to get dorks like you all riled up. You should just ignore it if it results in you getting your panties in such a wad. You are giving them the attention that they want so he or she has you by the nads is the honest truth.

Is that butthurt guy still snivelling on here, obsessed with peoples rear ends and trolling? You'd think he'd be spending his time looking for a job and getting off welfare.

My addled brain was kind of hoping that the "deadwood/butthurt" poster was a female. You know,... kind of a cross between Janine Garofalo and Marisa Tomei (any combination, thereof, would be acceptable).

The low IQ man posting butt hurt and similar grade school rants is a Chevron friends and family guy, who would be lucky to get a job at Bed Bath and Beyond, if it were not for his brother-in-law.

GE I would say no. BHP and Statoil probably not either.

I'll vote for Shell. Shell is better than Chevron. Why, you may ask. 'Cuz,... I paid our gasoline bills, yesterday. Chevron's pay-on-line regimen is unnecessarily redundant to the point of distraction, the system is incapable of understanding the amount one wishes to pay, if it is spoken (it NEVER works!), so one must enter the amount, and,... oh, "be sure to use a 'star' symbol, instead of a period" when entering the amount. WTF??? How much more Rube Goldberg could it GET? Also,... the female voice is soulless, and irritating, and the confirmation number is, like, 10 freaking digits LONG! Shell's system? Totally rational, logical, concise, my blood pressure remains, steady, the female voice is sweet and lovely,... almost 'friendly', and the confirmation number is only 6 digits long. I have other examples of Chevron's fondness for the overly complex, "smart by half" approach to various matters, but when paying one's bills, one ought not be "messed with" any more than is necessary. Chevron seems to delight in messing with one.

When did the words "butthurt" and "deadwood" creep into our lexicon? Used, once or twice, while still crude, is still excusable. But, their near constant and incessant use is a certain sign of low intelligence. That's the lovely thing about our country, though,... everyone's free to open their mouth and remove all doubt regarding their stupidity.

I am surprised people think Shell is better. All I remember about Shell was mass incompetence and people's obsessive need to go out to lunch.

It's so sad that so many of you are butthurt about working for a living. I know it has nothing to do with Chevron because I have worked at a few different companies including CVX and I know that the difference is subtle, at best. There are a few differences but in many areas Chevron is better. I used to work there and now I work for a competitor, but in todays low work environment I would rather be at Chevron. They hang on to the useless deadwood for much longer than many places. I would surmise that many of you pieces of deadwood would have long been cut from the tree by now at most companies. The people who just complain all day on these forums are generally not happy working at all and don't understand the concept that you have to work to live and survive. They are bottom-feeding parasites who think that they can mooch and live as sponges.

I left Chevron after 26 years. The good thing was the timing of it all. I EOI'ed right at the time I had enough of the company and got out with a sweet severance check. I'm now retired on my own terms and enjoying a pleasant life. Chevron is in the rear view mirror.

The money is the only good thing about Chevron. At the end of the day the misery wasn't worth a good paycheck. The only thing i regret about leaving was that i didnt do it sooner in life.
