New Hiring

They are starting to hire for engineering positions, so how safe are these jobs?

No jobs in the oilfield are safe. They never have been. It is a boom and bust industry where the pendulum of optimism and despair swings widely and often overshoots its equilibrium point.

Some groups are being moved and key engineers are not willing to relocate. As a result, the company is hiring for those positions. From what I see, those positions are safe for competent replacements. Basically, you are joining the core group. You have a job unless Weatherford goes under.

Probably not very. Weatherford has been cleaning house of late. 5200 was just hit hard. Especially with the law suit on Bechtel & friends. That whole crew has been disbanded.
