Enjoying My Laid Off Time

Well here I am traveling up the east coast visiting my family and old friends. Been to New Orleans, Starkville Ms, Greenville SC, and Washington DC. Today I drove on the Skyline Drive on the Blue Ridge Mountains, through Page Valley, over Massanutten mountain, through the Shenandoah Valley. Saw lots of apple stands and beautiful fall colors in the trees. Right now I am eating at Jess' Quick Lunch in Harrisonburg. Two chili dogs, a cheese burger and cold Miller beer in a bottle. Tomorrow I will be in Baltimore visiting the Naval Academy and eating fresh, genuine Maryland crab cakes. I feel so good even though I am out of work. It seems like a million miles from Chevron and Houston.

Those live large #1 crabs are freshly flown in from Louisiana every day my friend. And yes, they are good although not seasoned enough.

Sounds awesome. Have you a good old Chesapeake bay Oyster when you pass by there again. I heard they are huge!!!

The crab cakes in Maryland are either just 'crab cakes' or genuine Chesapeak bay Maryland crab cakes. The crab house restaurants often have live crabs and you can easily tell if they are from the Chesapeak bay or elsewhere. They pretty much taste the same to me. The main difference is in the freshness of the locally caught crabs. Also, Starkvegas does not have casinos. Starkville is mainly a college town of Mississippi State University. I don't know where that name came from. Most of the casinos are in Biloxi.

I'd certainly like to get out of my cube and get to StarkVegas one day. Do they have many casinos?

The supplier that provides most of the Maryland Crab Cakes is in Golden Meadow, LA and the guy actually used to work for Chevron.

I am enjoying my laid off time as well for now. I love the long days with no work. I have been very busy, though with small projects round the house. Unfortunately people are calling me for work now. The fun doesn't last forever. The democrats want me to work for their campaign. The are hitting up all of us without degrees, or on government assistance, because they say we represent the majority of their voters. They also want us to go get new voters together from the people who can't speak and walk and bring them to vote. We need to buy them lunch to get them to vote for Hill. Also we need to find recently deceased voters and bring them the list. I have plenty work for the rest of the month now. To the moderator who only removes what he disagrees with but leaves some personal attacks on here- Bite me. You're a nobody with a pathetic job that you svck at, A-hole.

Yeah, all the big corporations have the same problems. It seems the PC environment at Chevron just seems to magnify all the other stupid stuff that happens. On another note, I have been to the 'Beau' in Biloxi. Lots of nice, high-end casinos there. Biloxi is a pretty nice town. You should cross the bridge and check out Ocean Springs. Many restaurants and bars there. It is like a small college town without the college.

There's life after being at any Megacorp for many years that's so much better. Chevron is not unique in that respect. Shell, BP-Amoco, XOM, Williams, Murphy, etc. All pretty much the same with the nonsense and abuse. As far as that goes, you might as well add Intel, HP, BOA, Caterpillar, Cisco, NOV, IBM and pretty much everyone else. I've talked at length to many of these employees. It's all the same. In fact, Chevron gets far fewer complaints than most, Just so you know.

I just got to Biloxi, staying a couple nights at the Beau Rivage and catching the Chris Stapleton and Z Z Top concerts while I'm here. Work is a faint memory and I've only been off now for 6 months. Sweet!

I loved the company and the work. Just couldn't stand many of the moron supervisors and managers. How they ever assented yo their positions is beyond my understanding. Only at Chevron, I suppose. Nowhere else would people like survive for long. I'm having a great time in retirement. Financially fit and looking to enjoy life now.

Anyone who leaves Chevron will feel this euphoria. And the good news is that it lasts! I left Chevron a little over two years ago and still feel the pure happiness of being away from that awful company run by morons.

Sounds great. Enjoy those "fresh, genuine Maryland crab cakes"... FYI the crab is most likely from the Gulf Coast.
