I was let go as a faculty member. My own boss dod not call. It was someone I did not know. All of the AIO program directors and assistant/associates were let go too. Even worse, they were told they can reapply for their same jobs with more responsibilities. So how inhumane is that? They are fired but maybe if they beg and compete with their peers the may get to stick around. So humiliating.
I understand business decisions must be made, but EDMC handles these things as if people were assets to be flipped around and allocated. They look at short term costs and never invest in development. They cast out the experienced and keep the less qualified who will work for less. our department has good people and some useless ones. We has one standout who everyone respected. This manager was fair, a team builder, a trainer, and always got thibgs done. I always appreciated this person always said "we work together" not " you work for me." The manager earned my loyalty and respectand I can say everyone in grapgic design and GD loved him because he made us successful. No other Asopd or AssOpd (or OPD) had more effect. I hope they rehire because we will be lost with much less effective leads who are micromanagers, less informed and up-to-date on the profession field, the tools, and the careers. Its all sbout respect and loyalty. GD had one outstand Assistant Online Program Director and every faculty is physically sick to loose this person. We will be miserable without the professionalism he brings. Yes, we feel that strongly. Please think hard and don't pick a gaggle of all woman. None have a performance record or the respect of the one man in the group. It would feel like blatant teverse discrimination. AND WE NEED THE HELP AND SUPPORT. I will be an adjuct and am sure i will grow and become bter working for the man from GD who has been so great. Don't be the worst verson of EDMC. Try and make ot better.
