I noticed that a lot of idiots were hired after laying off all the bunch last year. Hopefully they will only layoff those idiots.

9.9 out of 10 times, it is better to be in the acquiring company than the acquired company.

With all upcoming layoffs due to merger and duplication of skills, what is the justification of keeping all of the h-1bs, or even bringing over new h-1bs?

Will there be more lay offs? God I hope so. This forum is so much more entertaining both before & right after a lay off. So I'm personally hoping for another round.

Best and most reliable lay off indicator is the state of the WT 11th floor balcony access door. If they close it again "for maintenance." If it closes again, get ready for the pink slip parade.

NXP employees will have to adapt to whatever Qualcomm management decides.

There will certainly be a lot of consolidation, elimination of redundancies and "synergies" as a result of this acquisition. NXP has more employees than Qualcomm, even though it has less profit and revenues. Qualcomm may try to sell off a lot of the fabs that NXP operates, which would jettison a lot of workers. But just because Qualcomm is buying NXP doesn't mean only NXP will see change. There will be functions and groups inside Qualcomm that get downsized/eliminated along with NXP as the two sets of resources are combined.

LTE toasters caused Friday's web blackout. Hopefully NXP is dominant in the field of toaster security.

Layoff should be on NXP side as QCOM acquires NXP, employees in Q will be saved.
