I just thought of this as well. I'm eliminating my HIPAC contribution (as everyone should - THAT'D be a good message).

The only reason I did it in the first place was years ago, I was told "If you don't contribute, your name is on a list in someone's drawer. You don't want your name on that list."

I was invited to meet my business PRESIDENT to discuss the benefits of hipac. This guy was several layers up and never had anything to do with me before. As a young professional I felt this was highly unethical but now I'm afraid to drop out or face indirect punishment.

Contribute to PAC is like digging your own grave. You are paying for them to move the jobs overseas and RIF you.

To hell with them, they have been squeezing employees for years to help their bottom line. It reminds me of the old "how to boil a frog" analogy. The premise is that if a frog is put suddenly into boiling water, it will jump out, but if it is put in cold water which is then brought to a boil slowly, it will not perceive the danger and will be cooked to death. There you have it, the Honeywell strategy.

Upper leadership puts an extreme amount of pressure on you to contribute. Metrics exists for how many employees at a location participate. Work at a small site and people can figure out who is the hold out. Want to get promoted? You donate so you can get face time with the upper leaders. That is the biggest reason. Career advancement. But, uh, yeah, its optional.

Why would any of you give anything to that?

Was called every year for about 5 or 6 years, and once by an Aerospace Leadership Team member - never contributed. If PAC money worked so well to get new business, then why are we doing so poorly today?

After the 4th time I was contacted about not participating in the program, I finally gave in. Of course they told me it was voluntary each time, but after the 4th time I didn't believe it wouldn't affect my job any more. I'm sure Coty would understand when I dropped out, it was just a family business decision. I was loosing a tax deduction and with lack of raises, pay cuts etc, need to cut unnecessary family expenses. We contribute directly now and take the tax deduction at home...

Lowered to bare minimum so that they incur a cost.

The Honeywell PAC has the mission to lobby Congress, and to support candidates, who will approve legislation which will ship jobs to India, China, Czech Republic, and Mexico. In addition, to lobby to support legislation which creates such entities as ODA and CDO, and compromises flight safety - but benefits the stock. Do not support the Honeywell PAC.
