Morning Chaps. That's going to be a tough and sad day for many of us. I wish everyone the best of luck. Keep calm and carry on

The VSS LR has been delayed (for "business planning") but is expected to start fairly soon. There are multiple rumours of further outsourcing.

Still nothing in CF and Staines. There must be some other reason for this but no one seems to be talking at the moment?

Bangalore is a complete joke. There are a few good people there, but in general, I'd let the Pakistani military use it for a nuclear test range. Engineering there has almost broken down. My boss is even talking about replacing a few SJ-based employees with people hired in Poland (people resigning fairly quickly now).

Yes my group is starting to use Krakow more.Maybe the start.Part of it is lower cost resources the other part is that there are just no local resources in country to do anything these days.

I'm still at Cisco. My team has plans to move engineering and some services to Poland. The investment made in India was a bust for development. Bad coding. Fraudulent business practices- Cisco employees in India outsourcing coding to non-Cisco people people......to do their bloody jobs. Example, Suraj somehow got a coding job at Cisco. His coding s---s so he finds a "friend" he can shovel work off to to code. Th shadow employee sits on team callls has access to company confidential data but gets paid by From Suraj to do Suraj work!! Suraj keeps his Cisco pay and benefits while the shadow employee creates shut code. It's really amazing. I knew of this but could not get a guy fired because Indian mafia and Corp HR decided to look the other way and did not want to make an issue of it!

@JaWnZjb-1lht - Yes on the Poland move, No because of BREXIT.

The shift to Krakow is happening because they have an inexpensive, young, well educated, professional workforce to pull from. Lots, and lots of discussion around shifting work from Bangalore to here as well. 95% of the (non-Indian) VPs' I have been in discussions with support this and are pushing it whenever possible.

Bangalore is a world-class sh--e' show and the ROI is no longer there for Cisco and many others like us.

Can't happen soon enough.

UK folks, blame Brexit for your layoffs. Cisco is moving out of UK completely. Headed to Poland and other cheap eastern EU countries.

@dtv you're sure about that? So that means that if my office didn't get any notification about group consultations, then either we're totally safe (rather unlikely) or have more than 20 people being hit?

UK package hasn't been released yet to my knowledge.I read some horseshit about it only being told to the affected people in their termination package.

Group consultation is the law.But I agree it changes nothing.Previous rounds have shown that. But they have to go through the motions. Offices with less than 20 people being layed off are not bound by the group consultation so can proceed immediately.Hence why the recent emails sent out for the group consultation were for Bedfont,Reading , Swindon and Manchester.

What is the point of this group consultation period? The decisions have already been made, perhaps months ago, as to who is going to be laid off, so why have 3 group consultations before the individual consultations commence?

Surely they cant start in Bedfont 'til the Consultation Period is over.

I'd be very interested to hear what the GB severance pack is? I know the EU layoff laws are different than the US but still very interested to see what the parity is.

Although it's a scary thought (and I can feel the pit in my stomach that was there when I went through it) I can say it's also probably the best day of your career as well. You'll be fine. You'll find another job. It may well pay more, or be as flexible, or be closer to home. It will definitely be less of a toxic environment. And you'll walk away with a severance package which will get you through and maybe then some. Enjoy the time off that your notice period gives you. Spend time doing the things you want to do for a month. It's going to be better than OK. It's going to be liberating!
