H4 Question

Does anyone know what is currently going on with H4s? I am considering a new H4 position with no directs. Rumor was H4s NEED to have directs now (I also thought there was a minimum) and also H4s were being targeted for the cuts last year.

Can anyone tell me the current situation regarding H4s? The last thing I want to do is take a new position and be immediately cut because that particular team has not yet implemented the H4 requirements. Not that I have any sort of stability in my current role either, but I'd like to make a smart decision. Please help!

Indians are used to boost the diversity ratios. This has been discussed in other posts, just emphasizing the point here.

Band 4's are big bucks and total know-it-alls. Some of these middlemanagers are totally insecure and just hire people to delegate downwards trying to insulate themselves from being a lay-off target. On the tech side these guys have the most to say but are the least productive and effective and usually have a string of failed projects behind them which they can blame on their subordinates.

Band 4's have been targeted for years. I'm a B4 and don't have directs. I have multiple peers that have the same situation. I think it really depends on skill set and area, production areas are really not a good move. Enterprise roles it's very common

H4=Band 4

Maybe I am dating myself and things have changed, but they used to be termed as H4. ie H7 H6 H5, etc

You mean a band-4 (B4) position.....not to be confused with a H4 visa which is a dependant/spouse of a H1 visa holder who is also now allowed to work in the USA with the new updated laws, although with some restrictions. (Previously H4s were not allowed to legally work, which meant more jobs to Americans)

Anyway, to your question, correct that is what I heard, and saw as well. Very difficult to get any approvals for new hires at B4. New hires were being brought in as B5s. B4s continue to be cut, especially in Tech, and are being replaced by B5s or lower. Unless you have a particular skill set and you are already a B4, and you made a team lead (not necessarily a manager). Good luck!
