No "50% travel" for AS organization means being posted for a month at a time to some data centre in a corporate park in NJ or Terre Haute and we being too tight to pay for a ticket home for the weekend. Those fat margins on your labor will go to your director to attend conferences on your behalf.

If you really have these skills, you could go and work for Accenture and make 2x as much.

• This position will require 50% travel.

Translation: We will hire only single people under 30 years. If you have kids or family obligations, we don't need you. Also, be prepared to work on weekends and holidays.

University of Phoenix grads are the worst. They watch too many of those terrible commercials and think they're Ivy Leaguers. But these are the guys Cisco prefers nowadays.

Don't even bother to apply unless you have the following skills:

  1. You can produce a fake degree, from a fake University.

  2. You can lie to your team members and mislead them on just about everything.

  3. You are incompetent but think you are smart because you easily lie and cheat.

  4. You have a support group who speaks your native language and comes to your rescue whenever you have deliverables.

  5. You are on H1-B from a corrupt country and you think you are here because Americans are dumb.

  6. You have no business, technical, verbal, writing, or presentation skills. You don't even need them because you come from your manager's village.

Low rates are the new normal. Don't forget that businesses can still hire someone overseas for a fraction of these low rates. Besides, if you are struggling to pay off your million dollar house in the bay area you better re-evaluate options.

The rate that I was quoted for a similar position in San Jose was $35-40/hr. I told the agency that I'd rather drive for Uber.

I keep getting calls from staffing agencies about my previous role (chopped up) and for a very low hourly rate. I guess 2 contractors at a low rate is the direction Cisco is going.
