Import & Export Compliance at NOV

Since everything on the board is very negative, I thought I would say something positive about the company. Here goes...

I am one of the thousands laid off from NOV and am looking for a new position in import / export. One thing I am finding as I apply to companies, and research LinkedIn, is just how little attention that many companies put into supporting Compliance. It appears that companies don't have any idea of the dire consequences that can result if international laws are not followed and procedures aren't adhered to. Working with the global compliance group in Houston was an incredible experience, as that group is first rate! I so appreciate having had the chance to have been exposed to such professionalism and being able to learn how to do things correctly.

Recently I just had an interview with a company that sells products that surely have some government controlled items, yet the company claims everything is EAR99. Also, the export manager at that company doesn't even have a clue of how to do an export audit. I didn't get the job, and it probably is for my own good. Such disregard for policies would lead me to resent such a management style really fast.

Keep up the good work NOV Legal & Compliance. Working with your team is greatly missed.

NOV doesn't even follow compliance - what a pile of sh--, oh, that is exactly true, so much corruption , meth smoking, arse reaming and jizz slurping going on.

The Sarbanes–Oxley Act was supposed to stop all this, financial backhanders, corruption - sorry, I'm wrong, that's right, NOV has no money left, just a pile of $$$$$ debts, and more to come this month. LMAO

Made up position? I worked in logistics. Try running a company without people who don't know how to get products overseas... Anyway, also maybe you should put your signature on a federal document such as a NAFTA certificate and see how comfortable you are with that if you aren't 100% certain of the country of origin / material background of the product. Individuals can be held accountable and fined in addition to the companies they work for. NOV Compliance is there to protect the company, and also it sure gave a feeling of personal protection to know that there were professionals in the company who had the legal knowledge, and weren't just winging it. Not all companies want to spend the $$$$$ for that, but they are waking up, because they have to. And it won't get any easier.

Yes, exactly true about the Wikipedia blurb. It is posted in the guise of being original, logical thought, but a simple Google search proves it to be copied / pasted directly from Wiki. I had a big laugh about that days ago and wasn't going to comment on it, but oh why not! Such a person wouldn't have a grasp on what import export compliance even is. Understanding compliance goes much deeper than the simple assumptions made here by several.

@JbdSfg6-3qxo up to your usual keyboard warrior sh-- as usual, spouting excerpts from Wikipedia. Obviously nothing else better to do, like all the other jizzbuckets employed by NOV.

@JbdSfg6-1zjj And I believe the definition of ignorance is resorting to personal attacks as you have done which is, ad hominem, a logical fallacy in which an argument is rebutted by attacking the character, motive, or other attribute of the person making the argument, or persons associated with the argument, rather than attacking the substance of the argument itself. Don't be a hypocrite. You came here to wrestle, pig.

I believe the definition of ignorance is making fun of what one doesn't really understand. Note that I don't wrestle with pigs because I will get dirty and the pigs like it.

Import Export Compliance ... What a joke!! Just another glorified job title with minimal work to do. That team was put together for a reason and a front. To show the outside that we have a compliance team because we've been caught and investigated along with Weatherford. You don't need a bachelors degree to do HTS and ECCN classifications and it's not difficult to learn. Many companies adhere to doing ECCN's and HTS correctly and are very compliant. So for you to say that the company you applied for classifies all of their product as EAR99 is not fair, in fact, it is idiotic when you don't even try to provide factual information to backup your story. No wonder they didn't hire you. I wouldn't hire you either.
