I was out over a year and a half with thyroid cancer I won the fight with cancer but when I was able to come back to work my HR said my position was given away since I was out longer then A year I would have to step back down two levels if I wanted to still work for Walmart and accept a big pay cut, I worked for Walmart for 6 years started from the bottom and moved up to a assistant store manager now I would have to go back down yo a stocker overnight and receive the last pay I had as a stocker all because my regional HR was mad that I got cancer and was in and out of the hospital during the holidays.

Walmart has made a practice of laying off tenured associates for cheaper, less skilled contract labor at the home office. It no longer is a family and respect for the individual is only catch phrase. A career is no longer possible with this company. The day will come when your number comes up. Look elsewhere for long term employment.
So much for "respect for the individual." This company is the worst! I still have nightmares from my experience at WM. Do yourself a favor and leave that place, ASAP! You may not make as much money, but you'll be a hell of a lot happier!!
This is really horrible, I wish you all the best and God bless
