Thread regarding Cisco Systems Inc. layoffs

Salary and hike calculations when switching from Cisco to other companies at this point

Guys, I want to know how other organizations calculate salary . Most of them seem to only look at the base salary but in Cisco the base salary is always low and the variables ( bonuses, allowances are high) . My questions are :

1) When switching companies is there are way to get them look at the overall salary that Cisco provides ? OR is it just the base salary that one can look at ? ( i.e. base salary as reflected in HRMS)

2) What is the percentage of hike one can expect switching from Cisco to other organizations at this point of time?

Please advice based on your experience .

The recruiter at my current company did an excellent job of trying to make sure that I got a better deal the new place. He took into consideration the RSUs I was walking away from, my bonus and the number of vacation days I got per year. Cisco has an automated tool you can use to generate letters. You should be able to do one that shows both your salary and bonus.

I actulally cannot find a lot if companies that can ir willing ro pay me like Cisco did. I will have to take a hit of 50k to my base and around 70k to total comp if I an lucky. I was a grade 12 TSA. I also lost $50k of unvested RSUs

The pay was the only thing that kept me at cisco and probably was the reason I got the boot. It was fun while it lasted I guess.
