caring about modem chipsets is like caring whether your GPU is AMD or NVIDIA. because of the resale value to the deep learning community. Things you'll never hear on the street: "Dude is that sh-- Cat 10?"
US consumers won't care, but of course they should. If they buy an Intel based phone, they will cut out their ability to go to Verizon or Sprint. It also cuts down their resale market.
consumers will thoroughly read thru QCOM marketing blog posts, sift thru the modem data rate metaphors, and ultimately decide on the QCOM modem due to superior technology at a more advanced process node.
