Their rental process is seamless. Just wait until they are able to accept financial aid......

If you are young & not close to retirement, find another job. How much longer can Follett survive the losses.

Barnes & Noble Inc. Chairman and founder Leonard Riggio said the bookstore chain is suffering from the one of worst retail environments in decades after traffic in stores hit “close to a historic low point.”

The retail climate is “terrible,” he said on the company’s first-quarter earnings call Thursday. “Better put, is it is one of the worst I have ever experienced in the 50 years I have been in this industry.”

The remarks came after the New York-based company said revenue dropped 6.6 percent to $913.9 million last quarter. The average of two analysts’ estimates was $958.5 million.

Here is what my kids did. Went to the first day of class, instructor provided the books need by title and author and which ones were optional. Ordered the books on Amazon (which also had the best price) and waited two days to get them.

The student doesn't even consider the bookstore. period. About anything. The shopping motion for college students is to pick up the phone, browse, buy. Walking to the bookstore, looking up the course, finding the right books, standing in line never enters their mind. Go online. Shop for the best price from a decent vendor. Buy. What part of that does Follett do well?

How does Follett and B&N compete with this? You want to know how much Amazon paid the school for a commission - zero. They gave the discount to the student.

If you're looking for textbooks, Amazon is offering $10 off Textbook orders $100 or more after Coupon Code: "TXT10" (Exp 9/15). Guaranteed if your school is requesting an official textbook, Amazon will have it available online. You still get Free 2 Day Shipping if you are a Prime Member and you can bypass the hectic lines (and retail costs) at the student bookstore.

They used the name ' IheartAmazon' (located in the grey bar under the post --- 18 hours ago by IheartAmazon) to indicate they were talking about Amazon. Work on your reading skills please.

Dude. Think. They are talking about how well Amazon implements textbook rentals. Once they (Amazon) can accept financial aid, Follett will be left (even farther) behind.
