I work for HAL and I frequently visit all O&G boards on layoffs.com - it seems that your board flared up today and I was wandering if someone can summarize for us outsiders what's going on at Conoco. It's hard to keep track of what's going on as 1/2 of posts are internal threads and the other half seem to be trolls. Thanks in advance

AI is finally here! Welcome, HAL 900, enjoy your break from Space Odyssey.
COP is laying off, similar to what is going on at your company, Schlumberger, Baker Hughes, BP, Chevron, etc.
Conoco? No clue what company that is. I work for ConocoPhillips.

Keep on walking there genius.
CONOCO is in the process of layoffs of approximately 1,000 people of its 15,000 and shrinking workforce. It was widely publicized in the press couple of months ago. Started on the 12th and will wrap up in two weeks. Bulk of the layoffs are in L48 and Canada due to lower rig activity and shrinking capital budget which can last for up to 5 years. Most jobs lost will be in Houston, Calgary and Bartlesville in that order most likely.
