Thread regarding Lowe's Cos. layoffs

I'm afraid it not just a pilot program.

Our Store Managers had a meeting with the department managers this month and said they expect for to roll it out district by district in the next 12 months. Home Depot has a similar model that they have already rolled out. Some of our managers are already stepping down to head cashiers at our store. Some people are praying for it not to change and are staying stagnate. If you are a department manager and are not one of the favorite you really need to look for other options. Please don't wait too long because it will be here before you know it. Our Store Manager was animate that it is going to happen the time frame is the question not the will it happen. Please, please stop under sailing this one year is not a lot of time. She said this will be the only notice they will get she will not know until it happens. She stated that they would not be give more than a few week notice themselves as a district. This coming from a person I trust a great deal and has always been very honest with us as a group. Over the 13 years of she has never been nothing but truthful regarding changes. Some of our older department managers are very afraid and I too for them as well. Don't put your family on the streets for the sake of hope for a change of mind.

Hmmmmm that last post. While I heard the same thing about Corona(the name of the Chicago test) from my Market Director I guess they are going to roll out some version of it by the end of the fiscal year.

You're delusional if you think that some form of the trial isn't going to be rolled out to all of the stores. They wouldn't go into a market and layoff 100+ tenured department managers, just for the hell of it for a new trial. That would be completely asinine. It may not roll out just like it did in Chicago, but something along those lines is coming.

Too bad... I recently shopped in Home Depot for the first time in years. I've been loyal to Lowes for that same period. The Home Depot experience was so much better than I've been having at Lowes lately that I intend to be loyal to Home Depot until something steers me differently.

The only market affected by this is the Chicago market, the program has failed miserably and has shown to not be in the best interest of Lowe's. Several people have tried spreading the rumors of this going company wide, but they are only rumors I assure you. The company is not going to deploy a program that they know is not successful and has proved to be a bad idea.
