Unemployment in AZ

I am unemployed now :(

Can someone in AZ help explain the unemployment benefits? When can I file? Do I have to wait until my severance package ends? What do I need to know?

I was told you don't start getting it until you stop getting paychecks. Honeywell doesn't give you severance all at once because you would start collecting unemployment week 1 and it would cost Honeywell money,

DES will need a copy of your severance paperwork. You should get it in the mail in the next few days. I went through this in January. File now, not later.

HR does not represent you, they represent the company.

Do not take anyone's advice, check directly with unemployment office. It may be different with a severance.

Good luck- Companies are hiring.

You should have been told exactly what/how/when to do all of this by HR during your severance meeting.

That is their responsibility.

If they didn't tell you it is just another example of how completely worthless the HR department is. Especially in Phoenix.

It's a waste of time. $240/week before taxes!

File first day you are unemployed. You can do this online. There will be a 1wk waiting period before you start getting paid. You have to file every week. Max compensation is $240 per week.
