Since the SRA, I have seriously reduced the hours I work. Lack of raise/bonus/rsu really ticked me off. I give 6-7 hours of face time a day. Probably 1-2 hours of work a day. Rest of day is strategizing how to make me look good to managers.

Intel guy here. Exactly same situation in Intel - then the ax came. Starto to look out for jobs, those sweatshops won't let you relax for long. But one hint: stay away from Intel, is at least as toxic as qcom, but probably much more,
Sometimes we do to put in long hours, but it is fun as you have clear set goals and no BS or politics.

I'm working 60 to 70+, but I am also looking for something better. Something completely out of telecommunications.
Doing my job is a matter of pride, but I have no path to real advancement here, I don't fit the right demographic for moving up under my VP.
1gej:. Very true. I recall working weekends and long hours before the SRA creating slides for sr director, so he could present them to the VP.
Idiot never bothered to look through them properly before presenting them to the execs and when incorrect info in the slides was pointed to him, he would come back and bark at the engineers who worked on them... Like engineers are his personal assistants. If they can take credit for the hard work that went in the slides, they should be willing to take the fault and own it as their doing, if things go wrong as well. Engineering dir means they are responsible for the engr content in them if they are going to present them.
I heard a lot of sr/dir does the same. Uses engineers as some kind of their engineering personal assistant to do their grunt work. Idiots!
I used to bust hard. But then I noticed the do nothing's around me got the same raises,promotions,etc. Why kill myself for nothing?
I've started zoning out a lot more.
I'm not sure if Qualcomm was getting a bargain out of it. The long hours that people were putting in before, a lot of it was enforced by bad management and spent doing useless stuff to please higher management
For example, rules and processes mandated by the Linux Android directors and management. Most of these useless rules were created by useless directors to justify their existence at Qualcomm., suffocating engineers and stifling their growth
My team is just putting in their 40's and going home, which is a big change from a few years ago. Qualcomm was getting a bargain giving small raises and bonuses versus the extra hours people used to put in. I have to admit that I LOVE IT.. I really enjoy having more family time and it is worth the financial trade off.
Sound like the manager at W.....which has a team located at W-187...he is doing same thing, one day a week WFH, one day sick and the remaining Face book
I don't see any reason to put in more than an honest 40 hours a week. Don't see any possibilities of getting a raise or a promotion or bonus regardless of how hard I work. So I decided to put in only 40 hours for which I am getting paid for paid for, until something better comes along.
You are working too much at qualcomm. my director rarely shows up to work, 5-6 hours per week.
Most people I've observed worked the way you do now prior to the re-alignment.
