Thread regarding Education Management Corporation layoffs

California actually has several really good well respected art schools. I really am surprised how Ai have been able to hang on so long there. How many left 5 ? My only guess is that the high about of first gen immigrants in the state don't realizes art school is not supposed to be like a city college. They don't know real art schools are difficult to get in because they look for talent and require a portfolio that shows great potential, not just raw interest. That's always been their shtick, "you don't have to be born with talent, we cant teach it to you for a fee."

Its about time, CA schools have been flying under the radar for years. It's hilarious that they think Argosy degrees are better then real MFA's. I thought you were not supposed to sh-- where you eat.

All the more reason for Claude to separate and leave McEachon with the rest of the schools. Maybe the separation dies anyway but at least we try. He is the only guy avruallybtrying to save some schools, he knows McEachon is driving them into the ground. Its a lot of work but its possible to do, and if any schools can do it its the CA schools.

Don't you all get it!? There is no rebounding from this! The word is out and the public has become aware of the Ai and for-profit scam! 18 out of 50 schools closed and counting! EDMC stock at $0.01! Low enrollment all across! It's inevitable! Ai/EDMC will not make it past 2017!!!

Why on earth does McEachon keep that pesky rat around? He has to have seen that he sneaks behind everyone's back to move up and save his nasty hide. I doubt anyone else that high in the company could openly talk so much trash about the CEO and the board and get away with it. Fraude has some kinda super power.

Actually all of the CA Ai's became a part of Argosy around 5 yrs ago then a few years later got WASC accreditation without satisfying their faculty/ AD credentialing requirements. They had 3 yrs. after that to do so and haven't.

Well technically about half of CA Ai schools were under the Argosy system so they broke off a long time ago... but as to whether it will switch to non-profit depends if WASC is doing its job.

During the last several layoffs, Ai kept faculty and academic directors with argosy degrees and let go others with MFA's from real schools. Apparently HR/ Campus Presidents don't understand the distinction between the two. What a joke-

LOL- 50% or more of the staff and faculty at the CA Ai's aren't qualified to be there per WASC criteria. Not sure why WASC doesn't visit and check credentials. But if they are bought out, WASC will visit.
