@Jra0Ll6-1dzc English, German, Spanish, Thai, Filipino, Mandarin, Cantonese, Malaysian and Indonesian. I worked in China for Intel and have spent the last 15 years in SE Asia. I've been married to a Chinese, Thai and Filipina (not at the same time).

It was a long time ago mid 90s exit in 1997. I took down 600k before taxes so in today's term 2.5mm. The smart engineers that worked fo 30k/yr took home 3mm. After taxes a divorce in 2001, have little to show for it. So I am at Intel but it was a good thing. I think engineers who come in early keep .25% after multiple rounds VP Eng, non founder 2 to 3%. Intel was not as rich over 14 years but a lot less risk. No missed paychecks

Good for u dude... I worked for a Russian/Jewish start up was sold for 1.7 Billon. Very smart guys I recall once when they were 30 engineers and we had run out of money they laid everyone off. So we could file for unemployment....4 months later we got next round closed and they made up the salary. Not one engineer left. The days young, hopeful, stupid, hopeful all the Americans paid more than the Jews, but the Jews had 5 x the options. Just be aware they are not going to give up

Op here the company was Russian and Isareli much of Engineering in Belarus. The level of intelligible is exceptional. I realize it makes me uncomfortable the language thing. But I also realize that after working with a half dozen ethnic groups, I have never even learned Hello, thank you any simple phrase. My kids have Chinese, Korean, Indian kids in his class, I asked him if he used/knew even a simple phrase. He said no.

I am going to widen my world. Hopefully make money. And be grateful for the chance..

Depends on what your equity will be worth . All startups are very quirky. More than 60% of start ups are Isareli, Indians or Chinese 1st generation

They probably need a while mono language enginner not for skills but window dressing. Be happy you are being let in for skin color not brains. Maybe stick in front of customers or take notes

What is important is to rightly evaluate the econimics ! The Isarelis are brillant, not sure they need you for Tech skills

Immediately ditch this company. It would have been much more impressive if they would have stated they were going to confer separately with each other to discuss results of the interview. It would have put you more at ease. The language change indicates a clear exclusion from the conversation. This was not the way to handle it. This is probably common behavior with thrse two, so beware.

If you are a longtimer at Intel, dang even a one year you'll have never met a more rude company.

Cant tell you how many times at meetings the person we have the meeting for, just starts looking at the phone, or after half the meeting asks something that clearly shows they weren't paying attention, starts typing on their laptop.

Nothing new in high tech, lots of smart, almost always rude and impatient is the name of the game to get ahead.

Israelis do the same at Intel when they come to USA .. congregating into their own circle,where product development is the purpose of a large F2F meeting.

What's the big deal In Europe people speak 3 languages quiet often English, French, German and switch back and forth. Adapt or be unemployed your choice you redneck

Hah learn the Language, it s not hard to pick up enough, you will impress your boss, it will help your Brain, and your paycheck in the green. If there are layoffs later you have a leg up. IT'S no different than picking up a new Technology. Good luck, God bless, English, Chinese, Hindi, Mandarin will be required of all smart people soon, just think how many people learn English each year. Seems like a fantastic opp all around

Odd that they would do that during an interview. Obviously it was to talk about you so you wouldn't understand what they are saying. Not that what they were saying was bad.... they very well could have been saying you're a really solid candidate. But, one never knows.

Not sure I'd be real comfortable working with people that would exclude me in a conversation as they saw fit. However, as @jcn said.... collect a paycheck until you find a better job if you find you don't like it. Maybe you'll find it doesn't bother you at all or that sort of thing only happens during interviews. lol

A job in hand is better than none, I saw take it and move on if you don't like it. Remember, it's always easier to get a job when you have a job. Harder when you're unemployed.

Hah, the some on line courses pick up what they are saing, Berlitz clasees.. Never let on you know what they are saying....what are they speaking?

Remember at a small company, its not your company, and there will be people I'm the in crowd (those who are buddy buddies with the founders). Technical capabilities will have nothing to do with how well you are received. That's how it goes everywhere, even if the founders were white and only spoke English.

Don't like it? Start your own company.

Yes. Get use to it. And remember you are there for a paycheck. If once you get there you don't like it fine another job. But until you find a better job. Beggars can't be choosers.
