Cisco Layoffs 2017

Let's try to predict future - what are your thoughts on how 2017 will play out as it relates to LRs? Is it going to be worse than 2016, the same, better? What groups and geographies may get decimated this time around and what number do you think they may be targeting now?

The message being communicated in our team is the business unit is going to be discontinued but executive management hasn't made the final decision yet but expected shortly.

Any one who thinks it is 7% have their head buried up their ***, I say closer to 10,000 WW. Every one that I want to speak to is on garden leave, by Wednesday PM UK number stood at 500 with another 2 days of being called to a meeting in 24 hours. UAE has lost nearly 50 heads, Cisco Capital cut to shreds , Small Cell Team 80% gone , Analytics for SP all gone , Mobility 75% gone, collaboration cut to bits, Italy is next I think.

More SP cut in Q2FY17. SP business is in deep trouble. No products or offerings...Yvette is not a visionary or path breaking leader. She is more of an execution person of the right products are in place. But who will decide what are the right products for future? SP engineering weak. Charles Stucki is disastrous. So are other product guys. Most are waiting for the bonus in Sept. before they take off. Expect more natural attrition.

The new planned products are starting very slow will see some benefits in 2/3 years time...Until then they have to manage the headcount.

Enterprise cloud adoption is currently at 20% with an accelerated forecast of 80% adoption by 2020, I do not know what Cisco's piece of that pie is going to be but I predict that's the end of its legacy routing and switching business. Do the math to forecast how many people are laid off each year to maximize shareholder value.

By now It should be pretty clear to everyone, that Chuck's way of doing things is by constant-layoff-mode. They'll try to keep it below 5% each quarter, except of end of fiscal when they do a biggie, but that's contingent on revenue number being good. If the revenue falls short of expectation any quarter, the layoff numbers will be higher. The reality is that, they are aiming at having about 20% of employees replaced every year. Current layoff will bring about 7%. So we have 13-14% to do in the next three quarters.

So in other words... brace yourselves - winter is coming.

In FY17, I hope the target will not be 14400 employees as initially came out in the media.. Next layoff round might follow in Q2/3 !!!
