Thread regarding Intel Corp. layoffs

iSP while when I got it a total shock after a couple decades, thought I'd retire, but was frustrated with the arrogance, the failed initiatives the continued blind arrogance and lack of cooperation between teams and people. Intel clearly was once great and with the current management in a terrible place.

Like OP after months gone, really enjoyed the nice severance and boy refreshing to see and taste the many exciting and positive prospects out there.

In design so many better companies, in silicon so many better companies executing. Of course none can compete with the profits and GM, but no question the golden goose is near death and ACT2 and ACT3 are coming, LOL

So many Intel long timers can't even relate to not being Microsoft Office (PPT, Excel and Project) PUSHERS in a real workplace environment. They have no knowledge of anything but .. hey, they can create a nice graph in MS Project and paste it into a power point. The can't even believe how good working outside Intel is, they think you are bu11$hitting them 😄😂 ... and Intel does not pay a lot, it's only a lot of pay if you are GED or a low performer who would under normal circumstances be doing a BLUE COLLAR JOB.

Life is WAY better after especially with severence check and FU money. Save as much as you can when young.

Took VSP in June as an Intel lifer, and landed a new job a month ago for way more than Intel was paying me. It's been eye-opening to be at a company that can actually move fast and execute, most of the "high-performer" Power Point pusher jobs everyone tried to get promoted into at Intel don't even exist on the outside. No regrets.

Congrats, 1dki, on the new position. We all hope the Intel backstabbers rot in hell for their crimes of deceit and immorality.

After 20 years took the ERP, it felt great to get away from the B.S. Now have a job offer with a big pay jump. Should have left years ago. I don't feel sorry for all the back stabbers that stayed since they will soon be drop kicked to the curb with no package. What goes around comes around.

Another symptom is Intel mgmt so full of themselves that they can't see the writing on the wall. Somebody can perform an MBPS on the failure of Intel ad a company which will be subject for academia case studies for years to come.

Hey, Intel is desperate, too many people, failing product lines, failing technology roadmap, got to keep the stock up, ACT2 and ACT3 a coming, all the norm of a dying company

Intel internal management practices and policies have sank as low as low can get when it comes to fundamental standards for fairness, ethics, and morality. The state of affairs for skilled engineers in this company, and others like it, tarnishes our professional standards and rights. They get away with these actions with impunity and IMO the money is not worth it.

You are correct, Op, and thanks for bringing this point of view for discussion. The industry had changed. Once upon a time, the semiconductor industry was a wonderful place to be, challenging work, expanding careers, etc. All that is quickly coming to an end. Just look at all the companies in the past 30 years that concluded it was much to costly to manufacture chips domestically. Most of those giants of the early industry have long since sold off these areas of the business. Though there are smaller companies sprinkled throughout the USA, the lion's share for volumes are located offshore. The trend supports Intel going this route to save major costs. Can't understand why the Fab monkeys cannot see the future and are not reacting. They must think it's a bad dream that will go away. It is reality folks! Wake Up before it's too late.

OP has hit the nail on the head. All of the points he made are happening today. Worst of all has got to be the career downfall.
