Thread regarding Cisco Systems Inc. layoffs

Big question on Cisco DC/Cloud Strategy

Can someone explain why it is a fact that ELT communicates to the employees that Biri and team is still working on the Cisco DC/Cloud strategy while executing mass layoffs in the areas of DC/Cloud (both BU and Sales). This is embarrassing and sad.

Biri will keep on doing Private Cloud/Hybrid Cloud/Containers/CI-CD for a few more years before calls it a quit....There is no cloud strategy. No point in making one. It is gone.

Cisco has to be in a new business completely by buying various new type of companies from the $50B cash they have...It makes executives life easier...They don't have to think much. Just buy whatever assets the market is demanding. That is the idea and strategy of the executive board. I am in corporate strategy and I am very aware of all the gigs they are planning to play in the coming months because I am working on some of those useless gigs...Nobody has the capacity to believe and even think of organic growth.

People who are still thinking that there will be/should be organic growth fro Cisco are idiots. Glad that Cisco let you go...because you still do not get the fact that Cisco's business landscape has changed. Legacy business will not survive for more than 4/5 years. Execs know this better than you do and that is why they are buying stuff quickly to create a new $50B Cisco.

Organic growth - You fools...People who lost your jobs - Your skills are useless not just for Cisco but for the entire networking industry....Else you guys would be having new jobs by now in the valley....I am aware of a service provider strategy and the project was big failure because SP engineers couldn't even fix simple bugs in 5 months time. Which school did you guys go to? How did you get the job at Cisco? Execs have very low opinion about old timers/engineers at Cisco from such projects.....You have outdated skills and hence no jobs...

there was a promise from Biri that with-in a month, the grand strategy for analytics would be shared..now, its more than a month and everything is super quiet as far as strategy goes.. not sure about investments, alignments..almost a quarter of a fiscal year is gone..things seem to be in a disarray..

Exactly there is NO strstegy !!!!

But there is execution (layoffs !) without a strategy.

Again - ELT admitted to have NO strategy in place. "Not yet-stay tuned"

But Biri is a great DJ.

Cloud Strategy, what Cloud Strategy ? what did the company get having wasted 2 Billion , yes 2 Billion on "Intercoud" ? No, can any one explain one simple single strategy ? That is apart from you guys need to do 20% more revenue with 20% less head count and oh will also lay off all the specialists !

Biri came from HP with a failed Cloud gig ! Don't expect him to use more than a few buzzwords and then bolt in 2-3 years. Cisco wants to grow in software and has the traditional networking folks as the executives managing it and they are trying to add people like Biri with no technical background whatsoever. A good CTO should ideally be involved directly withe technical aspects at some stage of their career and not always rely on buzzwords and charts. Either way they are screwed with the internal folks and the new hires. Mark my words - Cisco will keep acquiring as they will have no organic growth.
