@3zho - what is 'MIT'? I can only think of the University.

@2vgb, @2cvu, some folks may not agree that IT, MIT is overstaffed, overspending and bloated (https://www.thelayoff.com/t/JAf8CLw#replies). We all can agree to disagree. I personally agree IT, MIT is bloated for what it needs to do. Many IT, MIT high levels are basically just playing politics and building their own turf. Promotions are based on entertaining and socializing skills and whether you're in the gang!
@2cvu - I once heard the stat (while employed there) that Intel had ~5000 employees in IT worldwide. That was a few years ago, pre-ACT. But still.
I don't doubt there's anyone still on the inside on this forum @2hev. Have you not heard of devices that connect to the internet that are NOT Intel laptops? Of course they are here. Most probably just don't care about this site much so don't come until rumors are circulating to see what's being said.
I doubt there is anyone left on this forum who is still inside at this point, so not likely to get any first-hand info. The Oregonian's mole was lost with ACT, so there went the last, best source of advance intel on headcount reductions.
There are way too many positions in IT that do not deliver value to anyone other than PR to the individual IT cocoons that created them. And there are people in IT who have been promoted several grades beyond their competence yet they survive and thrive because the management team successfully covers for them. In flat to down times, these people take jobs from more worthy colleagues in more worthy positions, and it is a shame.
Can't wait for the next round of layoffs. Intel has bloated workforce which cannot be supported by the declining profits. If the company is not or cannot grow, it must layoff.

Would like to see more layoffs to boost stock price. Will be hoping to see ACT17 and ACT18.
Next year also but there will be some this year in Q4.
Around 25k more to go. Need to get rid of dead weight and make room for China manufacturing.

No layoffs here and there, just major hiring at all sites due to good earnings.
