Thread regarding Honeywell International Inc. layoffs

Severance and Pension changes:

Does anyone know if this new November 1, 2016 RIF will be the last one before the 26 week severance package is changed? There was rumor of this last time but wanted any updates.

Also, does anyone know if they are going to change the pension plans in 2017.

I agree totally that the WARN act does not apply, since the size of the RIF doesn't trigger it. Further, if the WARN act did apply, the notification email does not comply with the requirements of the WARN act. It's a persistent myth that the WARN act is somehow driving a 60-day delay between the issuing of the email and the implementation of the RIF.

What required 60 day window?

As a FYI the WARN act does not apply. I checked a few sites like New Jersey, Arizona, Florida. All sites do not appear to have active or past WARN notices in effect for Honeywell. State sites are somewhat hard to search. Florida was somewhat easier.

No warn notice for the recent job actions.

Reason is simple Honeywell is not legally compelled to do so.

Here are the NJ rules. NJ compares their rules with Federal.

HONEYWELL can RIF at anytime without warning as long as they keep the numbers under the criteria set by the state and federal WARN acts (which ever applies).

If the RIF occurs before Christmas then Honeywell could follow the September example. RIF then furlough week which means employees will not be paid for the 5 days between Christmas and New Years Day. A rumor that has been heard.

The RIF email came out before the required 60 day window to notify you. This lands you around Tuesday Dec 20th. Merry Christmas.

If the same timetable is followed they will hit Mexico in November around the 15th, Canada next week and the U.S. on December 21st?

In Dec 2013 I was with AERO and in a RIF 2 days before Christmas. I guess they wanted to save 2 days of holiday. What a great company.

If they follow the timetable used in the last RIF, the actual layoff will happen just before Xmas.
