Media, telco and cable companies keep consolidating into larger mega entities and they have shown time and time again to not give two sh--s about the consumer.
They hold clear and effective monopolies in areas all over the country and sue municipalities that try to offer alternatives.
They are a hindrance to the growth of our nation by not upgrading their services, and implementing data caps in the hope that you buy their services instead of competing services.

Neither ATT nor Verizon is content on being just a dumb pipe. They want a monopoly on content as well, what limited protections Net Neutrality offers be damned.
I have e no idea how AT&T is going to pay for all this. Like Verizon, they carry a heavy, heavy load of over a $100 billion in debt.
