Rockwell Collins in Advanced Talks to Purchase B/E Aerospace for $6.5 Billion

Deal would combine two of the aerospace industry’s biggest suppliers

Rockwell Collins Inc. is in advanced talks to buy B/E Aerospace Inc., in a deal that would unite two of the global aerospace industry’s biggest suppliers.

A deal would value B/E Aerospace at $62 a share or around $6.5 billion, and be paid for in cash and stock, people familiar with the matter said. The two sides are aiming to announce a deal as soon as Sunday, the people said, though the talks could still fall apart.......

For Rockwell, based in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, the deal would add to a portfolio focused on c---pit systems and other electronics for passenger, business and military jets. The deal would enable the company to provide a broader offering of passenger cabin products alongside its range of entertainment systems at a time when in-flight connectivity is becoming increasingly important to airlines......

RC already has a cabin mngt and IFE business that is a distant third to Panasonic and Thales in ATR. They are far and away number one IFE in BGA space. This could be an interesting tie up if they can get their system baked into the seats. Zodiac tried a few years ago and failed since the airlines didn't like IFE to be tied to the seat or vice versa. I expect they are planning some sort of economies tied to the infrastructure associated with content delivery, update and distribution.

Cabin exterior products, seats, lighting, galleys and oxygen systems. Seems a bit odd for RockwellCollins to get into such things

Look what Allied Signal/Honeywell created out of all those companies they bought. Backwards artificial growth. Made a t*rd out of meat chops.

I've heard BE Aerospace pretty much s&*ks to work for but interesting how companies like Rockwell and AT&T are doing huge deals while laying off employees.

It seems the only tricks the huge multi-nationals in aerospace know how to do is fleece taxpayers, cut all expenses, layoffs, and acquisitions. Wall St., big banks, hedge funds, and executives make out well, but nobody else. Job losses & higher prices always result.

This is in the end, a zero-growth game that only rewards the 1%.

Maybe Cote and team should take note how to purchase or merge with a large Aerospace Co. They blew it with United Technologies.

They are a bunch of misfits.
