Thread regarding Honeywell International Inc. layoffs

Still hiring

Even though RIFs and furloughs are ongoing, I was just informed we hired two College Grads from back East. Start date is Q2. First question why? Second Q is, has anyone told these poor kids "DON'T COME HERE". hard to understand such logic. I can only hope these kids don't move out west only to get hit with Furloughs and RIF's. This is a sad commentary of all levels of our org. in Phx. No class, No common decency, even the manager won't discuss it. She just acts like nothing going on here. She won't even let people in her staff mtg. ask the questions. Nothing to see here, keep moving. If you do, she calls you later to tell you let's bring this type stuff up one on one.......

I know I'm preaching to the choir. Let's just make plan s to get out of here with the largest severance we can get and until then, just coast doing only what you have to do.

Honeywell has had an aging workforce for at least a decade, and talks have been surrounded around how to handle it (at the exec level). HOS was supposed to drive out the information the old timers have, then once everything they did was 'documented' (or close to), it was time to bring in the young blood. But they have to drive out the old timers first, so they're pissing them off. It's pretty obvious.

Need a fresh supply of newbies to RIF with the old-timers to keep the lawyers happy. Someone new with someone old keeps the lawsuits away.

The goal of the RIF is to recycle the old with the new. They will ensure new people are indoctrinated and tolerant of no benefits. New employees are cheaper in the long run with no pension or dental obligation for Honeywell. Let's face it - Honeywell is not an engineering company but a investment vehicle. It's a bean counters paradise.

People need to eat. Not a lot of options straight out of school.
