Ok long story short, I went for an interview for vzw after being laid off and they called me back saying that I was rehired. 2 days later another job calls and says they want to hire me. I'm definitely going with the new job but does that mean I relinquish my severance package? I haven't signed any paperwork and technically I don't start in sales until nov. 4th. Anyone have any answers?

I was let go last November and on payroll until December 31st. Found a new job outside of VZW late November and still there. Collected pay from VZW, new job, and then severance came to me in early January. Nice that VZW was paying me and another company all at the same time last Fall. Thanks Mr Shammo I love you too....
Take the non Verizon job and collect your severance. If you turn down Verizon's job offer, you still can collect the severance paperwork. Same thing happened to me and I told Verizon to go F themselves. Best decision I ever made looking back because I took their severance and got a new job shortly after my last day on payroll.
Please tell me you didn't accept the new job offer at Verizon, then you would be SCREWED!!!!!
I think you forfeit the severance package but I am not 100% sure. I was laid off last November but I only applied for jobs externally. Be glad you are getting off that sinking ship!
