Pay ranges for Engineering grades in UK?

I've been a Grade 8 for almost 4 years but not had a payrise in over three years. I have no idea what the pay range is for my grade. How do people find out what the range is? Ive asked my manager but he says he doesn't know. Something I find suspiciously convenient. I'm outta here soon anyway. I can't take any more of this company.

Mid points do change. FY11 008.CORP was 43. 16% over 5 years... Your comp ratio is going backwards. You're definitely not considered a performer.

008.CORP.052 FY16 was essentially 50k mid, +/- 25%

Your manager is either too green or too lazy to find out. He can download from Manager Connection, or whatever it's called, a xls with all grades in all countries covered.

Useless Managers at Cisco? I can scarcely believe it. 😂

managers are supposed to tell you your compensation ratio (aka CR, aka compa ratio). This is your actual base salary divided by the target mid salary for your band. Mid depends on: grade, region, discipline. Min is either 75% or 80% of mid, and max is (IIRC) ) 125% of mid. So if you know your CR you can work all of this out. If manager says he doesn't know - he's lazy and crap. It's in all the manager tools. If he says he can't find out then he's lying. If he refuses to tell you then take it to HR.

Note that mid is a specified target rather than a measurement made from the population. Also note that it's quite rare for the mid points to move i.e. they stay the same most years.

I wonder if we have the same Manager OP 😃. About a year ago I went to HR who directed me back to my Manager who said he would look into it. Of course challenging him again a few weeks later he still played dumb. Or maybe he wasn't playing....?

If your manager says he doesn't know the range/midpoint of your labor grade, he is either lying or an idiot. You are entitled to know the range for your labor grade and the midpoint of your labor grade. I believe your are also entitled to know the range and midpoint of the labor grade above you (e.g. if you are labor grade 8, you should be able to find out the details for labor grade 10).

I would go to HR and ask them and if they balk at telling you, then tell them that your manager said he does not know. I have worked at companies before where my manager pulled the same thing and when I went to HR, they said it is your manager's responsibility to tell you. Only to have the manager again deny he knows what the range is.

Don't feel bad about not getting a raise in 4 years. I did not get one in over 15 years.

If you haven't received a raise in 4 years and your boss isn't professional enough to share the grade range with you, I suggest you leave fast. You're clearly not in the "in crowd" and it's unlikely you'll be rewarded any time soon. Go and find company that fits you better.

The end range is definitelly more than that. I'm G8 and making >55k base salary.

HR I believe will give you the salary range and midpoint for your current grade. Grade 8 is probably in the 32-46k range. Ranges tend to be quite wide.

I'm in the same boat as you but I work in US. And I got a new Job recently with a near 40% pay rise. Leaving Cisco next week. Would suggest you the same.

Is the info posted on Glassdoor missing or unreasonable?
