Thread regarding Intel Corp. layoffs

Did you have an abusive manager or principal engineer? Inform HR

They are looking for high level candidates for the next layoff. They don't have to pay them big severance packages if they have done this in the past and already have a record with HR.

Term used to describe Richard's exit was - "RETIRING" - not resigning @3njm

@K7YPlyi-2sym

You've got to remember that BK, Murthy and other senior leaders at Intel think that Intel employees are disposable cogs or resources. A commodity. That's why they laid off 12,000 of us in such an arbitrary way. Replace high cost resources with lower cost ones with similar skill sets. That's how they see us.

Intel committed to increase the number of URMs and women at the company to be a shining example in Silicon Valley. I'm sure that BK and Murthy view this as yet another albatross that Rene James left them. But Intel is stuck with it. It's about NOT having more bad PR vs. actually being seen as a leader at this point.

One approach would be to make Intel an actual great place to work and attract the best and brightest employees, including women and URMs. That ship has sailed.

The approach that they're taking is a top-down threat-based dictum to make the numbers. As always. Is it tied to some broader strategic plan? Yeah right...

If you give unqualified URMs a chance and only half succeed, Intel suceeds. The intent of diversity program is to make up for years of "old boys network" of discrimination.

Here's what I don't understand @2kld... besides hitting their URM numbers... what good are these people for the COMPANY if they lack the skills for the job? Is BK and MCM thinking that far???? Or can they only think about 1 thing at a time? I would think it would be much more important for a company to stay alive would be to hire the best, screw what nationality they are! The best is needed in order for the company to survive.

And you know all the URMs will desert ship like a bunch of fleeing rats when they start taking on water. They ain't gonna work harder to pull them out of their mess (LOLOL at the thought of them working hard, let alone harder).

It's just a F-ed up mess there. So glad I'm out but interesting to watch like a train wreck is.

My experiences as a FLM are consistent with this.

Maybe part of my out-of-nowhere L4 stock rating was insisting that we needed to hire a highly capable, qualified male candidate (who has since gone on to do really amazing things under tough circumstances) vs. a female candidate who would have been over her head and lacked the requisite technical skills.

I wrote the Powerpoint justification to our VP explaining why we needed to hire one vs. the other and had it turned back to me. I wrote it again to explain that the job required technical skills A, B and C, that we had contacted and interviewed several URM and female potential candidates and not found any with the necessary skills but had found three male candidates with the skills. The best candidate was the one I'd like to hire. "Could we hire the female with skill A and have others get her up to speed on B and C?" I was interrogated? "We could but that would introduce a lot of risk into the project...and who's going to give up a person from their team to train her?" That's what justified me to hire the male candidate, do work that saved Intel's behind at a key customer...and probably get an L4 / ISP.

No good deed goes unpunished at Intel.

Confession from an Intel manager. I am Indian male FLM. know I am being heavily judged through URM hiring. So, I have only offered jobs to mostly RCG females without concern to whether they can do the job. A good resume will get them hired. I'm very laxed on interview performance since I am under lots of pressure to hire these URMs. Sadly, that is the game I am expected to play.

i don't know what some of you are smoking but the chances that Intel hires a competent, decent HR change-agent is next to zero.

It will be some who's Bain-recommended a-hole with experience keeping the corporation out of legal trouble for the HR actions that will be taking place in the future (next rounds of layoffs targeting older / higher paid employees, divestitures, etc.). Kind of like why they hired Bob.

Alternately it will be a figurehead chick to serve as a front for diversity programs and Intel charitable spending (while the company treats its employees like chattel).

We'll long for the days of Richard...

Because he has enough money and tired of working? I'd be gone. In fact, I am gone (my choice) and I didn't have anywhere near what he has lol

Don't blame Richard he is a lucky guy to rise to his level he is bringing home more than half a million a year likely close to three quarters for his stupid work, why would he retire, unless fired or found a better job?

I won an ODI case against my FLM and SLM a year ago as they tried to give me an IR and block my transfer into another group. These Aholes are still thriving managers within the same group as no punishment was given to them for ruining my and others Intel careers.

That will happen only when Intel starts shrinking and money runs out. Those managers will become a bounty for HR.

There is a senior manager where HR has a rep in the room every time he has a large skip level, they are there to keep him and Intel from getting sued. All about protecting the manager not the employees, about avoiding lawsuits nothing else is important to HR

HR 😐😑😔 has the list of CULPRITS too,

... that

is....

if HR & MCM were serious about acting on 😐😑😔 what they say,

to terminate these RECORD PARASITES

WORKPLACE PREDATORS 🐛🐌🐞🐜🐍

and save Intel's money on packages !!

Interesting and ironic is HR and MCM talking about fixing Intel's work environment and culture.

All WORDS, NO ACTION 😐😑😔 !!

Why only those found guilty ??

There are always THE GUILTY'S MANAGER, DIRECTOR AND DIRECTOR's DIRECTOR SAVING them DESPITE BEING FOUND GUILTY. Especially when they have all been working together for many years and are friends outside work too.

GET RID OF THOSE WITH A RECORD

... and..

ALSO THOSE THAT PROTECTED THEM AND KEPT THEM IN THE WORKPLACE against judgement of HR.

Get rid of DIRECTORS and VPs that encourage such bad behavior. This will save Intel money in people reduction.

NOT TRUE - HR protect managers and other rodents against all.

Minority and LBGTQ get no special treatment. I know as newly hired URM who faced harassment.

TWO found guilty by my TWO separate Open Door Investigation, were just written up and continue working at Intel as manager and PM. They faced no discipline action and will remain there till they retire. Those TWO LOSERS in PEG PMO, have no career aspirations, so no future hiring manager will access their file.

Thank you, woe! You are correct that managers are just like c---roaches that scatter when the lights go on. They definitely lose their morality when they become a manager and are just there to take orders from above and their own self preservation. Most of these people are overglorified engineers and never really learn the art of managing. First rule is to protect your most valuable resource, your people.

Managers are like a fraternity, once you pass initiation you are a lifer and they protect their own. Well at least till their own a$$ is on the line and they scatter like mice 🐭. Managers are selfish and self preservation a species as I have ever seen, embarrassed to have been one. You sell you morality and soul to be successful and an accept in crowd just like a fraternity, unless you are a born bad boy!

I don't know of a single FLM, SLM or VP that got hit by ACT in my group. It was all rank and file as far as I could see. My ex group now has only 9 employees, 4 of whom are managers. Go figure. Reminds me of the spans and levels problems of the SET era.
