Thread regarding Macy's Inc. layoffs

Jan 8th good luck

The sword will come down fast like it has for the last couple out years. This year i heard it will be the worse. I heard from an insider. hr will be broken up and it will run completely different. Many buyers and planners laid off as many dept s merge together. Regions and districts combined. It should be the largest lay off in Macys history. Good luck

I wish you luck.!!! with the combination of departments closing of stores, they will be able to offer packages to under performing managers and place some of the displaced staff. With the introduction of salesforce.com and HR reinvent, I am wondering how this impact HR from corporate to HR services to store line HR.

One thing we know, we're closing stores... with this of course regions and districts will have to realign. If you're a district merchant, but now only have 4 stores in your district, you're going to merge with someone/something.

I think stores like HSQ will be mostly safe, high volume, a pinnacle to Macy's, but will still probably have some cutbacks. Smaller t1 locations would probably be the bulk of where the closures will come. I'm wondering though, how many different departments throughout the company will be affected. We're so massive, and top heavy.. wondering if they offered salary cuts to the hundreds of VP's we have, if that would make a difference.

I've been with Macy's for many years now, and I have luckily not been too impacted by the changes, wondering if this is going to be the year. I really am hopeful everything is going to be OK.
