Being actively recruited for hw dev jobs. I'm at Cisco which is going to hell also. I don't want them to land in a bad spot.

I don't think there are many (or any) HW (systems and chip design) jobs in Redwood Shores (HQ), most of them including chip (cpu / soc / asic) design are in Santa Clara - Austin and Burlington have some, mostly chip design.
It's not just redundancy. There are HW mainline businesses are being cut off completely. A complete BU is being RIFd (under SVP) except a few sustaining folks. This was a key technology area in several Oracle DB and middleware products - I.e active contributor to bottom line. And yes this is across several countries.
stay away from anything related to Sparc and Solaris
Tell them to change careers tech industry is in downward spiral.
