RIF must comply with WARN act, which for companies of a certain size and number of layoffs, requires 60 days notice. From date of Mahoney's notice, earliest date is Dec 18 2016. I expect like the RIF announced Q4 2015 implemented first week of Jan 2016, this will occur first week of Jan 2017.
Depended on the PLANT your in. We had 2 sets of layoffs before and after Thanksgiving. Salary Employees got shafted on Vacations. Maybe furloughs in January, doesn't matter anyway. We always produces but take the Hit when other divisions don't . Last year I got a 1% raise, year before big fat ZERO for all.
The week of the 12th is what I've been told- at least for the ones impacted in my division. Not sure if other aerospace sites will be different weeks.
No sense in waiting even with change to vac policy. RIF now and you save paying people 5-8 more weeks. Most people have used some or most of of their vaca at this point so a RIF in the next week or two, even with vaca payout saves $$.
We won't know if this is the week because we are at the mercy of a bunch of weaklings.
To the post below, is this just a guess like everyone else or is this confirmed?
The week of Dec.12th
Yes, too bad they don't take ALL volunteers first. Let the young people hold on for awhile.
With the change in the VAC policy, it makes more sense from a financial standpoint to now wait until Jan. Letting people go the last month of the year could also hurt trying to make the year end numbers, shipments.
Agreed; as a ~25 year old myself (also seeing other young people get selected for the RIF this year), I think it would be nice to know if they choose me or not as well.
Oh, well; if they lay me off, I will simply move on to the next company... hopefully one with a much higher morale level, better organization and less ridiculousness.
The young should know too. Not just the old.
